RE: weather app for canada

2013-10-21 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi Ioana,

I like Degrees. I like, especially now with winter coming, the fact that I
can have the "feels like" temperature displayed on the badge. In the
winter, I don't really care to know if it is minus 35 if it really fells
like minus 42. The minus 42 is what will decide what I wear that day.

RE: weather app for canada

2013-10-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hey Ron,

I really don't think you have to dress that much differently if it's minus
35 or minus 42 *smile* Better to just stay home anyways

OK, just bugging you, I agree, though, the felt like temperature is
important at lower temps because you could easily have minus 15 with a feels
like of minus 30 and then the difference is pretty major.

May apparently knows about Degrees, though, since she is asking for an
alternative to Degrees which updates more often. I find myself Degrees does
everything I want, when I just checked it said "issued 53 minutes ago" and I
will check in 10 minutes if it updated which would mean it probably updates
current conditions every hour.

OK, so I just checked and it now says "issued 14 minutes ago", didn't
totally keep track of the time, but I think it wasn't more than 15 or 20
minutes until I last checked when it said 53 minutes, so I think every hour
seems about right.

Take care,

Sieghard

Yeah, I like degrees as well, especially with the feels like temp. It's not a
huge thing if there's not another out there. I was just curious.

Especially since degrees was telling me feels like temp was like 3 when it was
actually -1. Anywho, thanks all for whatever may come up, *smiles*

Re: weather app for canada

2013-10-21 Thread Victor Gouveia

Have you tried the Weather Network app?

That one is fully accessible, at least for the most part, as some buttons
aren't labeled correctly, but it's completely usable, and it offers you the
five day forecast, or the full day's forecast at various times during the
day, for example, the current conditions, later that afternoon, and later
that evening's conditions.

If you check the conditions in the afternoon, it'll tell you the conditions
in the afternoon, in other words, the current conditions, later that
evening, and overnight.

Likewise, if you check the conditions in the evening, it'll tell you the
conditions for that evening, in other words, current, overnight, and the
morning of the next day.

I'll see if I can send you the direct link to the app in the app store.

Hi,

Every 15 minutes or so is not often enough? Well, its true that the weather
in Canada can change quickly but I didn't realize it could be that quickly.

Sorry, I don't know of any app that will change more often than that

more often.

2013-10-21 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi again,

Don't forget Degrees doesn't display minus temperatures on the badge. That
can be a bit tricky when you are close to the 0 mark but when it is minus
10, you can't confuse that with 10 degrees.

lower temps because you could easily have minus 15 with a feels like of

RE: weather app for canada

2013-10-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi May,

Keep in mind that Degrees cannot display negative temperatures on the badge
icon. If you see a 1 or a 2 it could be minus 1 or 2 or plus 1 or 2. For
temperatures close to 0 you just have to go into the app and check it there,
usually one would expect that if it's December and the badge icon says 10,
that this probably is minus 10 and not plus 10, at least not where I live.if
it's minus 5 or 10

Yeah, I like degrees as well, especially with the feels like temp. It's not
a huge thing if there's not another out there. I was just curious.

Especially since degrees was telling me feels like temp was like 3 when it
was actually -1. Anywho, thanks all for whatever may come up, *smiles*

lower temps because you could easily have minus 15 with a feels like of
minus 30 and then the difference is pretty major.

I can have the "feels like" temperature displayed on the badge. In the
winter, I don't really care to know if it is minus 35 if it really fells
like minus 42. The minus 42 is what will decide what I wear that day.
