hi, sorry for the bf, i thought $69 was for three years. you still really can't beat only 9.99 to try it for 30 days. RE: [SPAM]Question About Various GPS Apps for iPhone
The correct pricing for the Seeing Eye app is $9.99 for 1 month, $69 for 1 year and $129 for 3 years. If somebody is like me and only needs it 3 or 4 times a year when travelling to Vancouver or another city in the US or Canada the $9.99 option for 1 month access is a good choice as I would pay $30 or $40 a year for having the use of the app when I need it. If somebody uses it on an almost daily bases and really likes how the information is presented than paying $129 for 3 years or $3.61 a month is a pretty good option. But as David said, it's only an option for those of us who live in Canada, the US or England at this point and Blindsquare in combination with Apple or Google Maps also works very well. RE: [SPAM]Question About Various GPS Apps for iPhone
I completely agree, Christopher. Also, blindness GPS apps can provide a level of intersection announcement that mainstream maps solutions simply would not know about. Also, with blindness specific GPS apps you can get different information from multiple apps in tandem, and you can lock your screen which I deem to be much more secure. In most cases, you also do not have to be operating the screen of your phone while you are walking, to find necessary information. I also realize that my questions could generate a variety of opinions but that's OK. So, here's the thing. I'm relatively new to the iPhone and started out in the world of GPS with the built-in Maps app, which I can use and, for the most part, which I like. I've also downloaded several free GPS apps that I'm in the process of evaluating and learning. One of the things that I really loved about Maps was that I could have it constantly speak my current location, which I found beneficial while on the train going to work. Given the capabilities of many of these free apps, are the specialized, blindness-specific GPS apps worth paying for? Re: [SPAM]Question About Various GPS Apps for iPhone
The advantage to an app like Seeing Eye is that you get many of the features that blind people like in one app. You get turn by turn directions, but you also get announcements of approaching intersections and POIs. And, you pay an extreme premium for the server-based system. I get most of the same features from Apple Maps for free. I just need to put VO on the appropriate field to monitor, and I need to manually move VO to the information I wish. Finally, for that extreme premium, one is limited to only the US, and maybe Canada. For the UK, you need to use a different app, with the same premiums. Outside those places, there is no Sendero GPS app. David Chittenden, MSc, MRCAA Email: dchitten...@gmail.com Mobile: +64 21 2288 288 Sent from my iPhone On 26 Jun 2014, at 13:42, Andy Baracco w...@socal.rr.com wrote: The advantage to an app like Seeing Eye is that you get many of the features that blind people like in one app. You get turn by turn directions, but you also get announcements of approaching intersections and POIs. Well, I live in the U. S. so it works for me. There is a brother app for the UK called RNIB GPS.
