RE: Dice World, am I missing something?

2014-03-18 Thread Steve Spamer
Raul, yes, don't misunderstand me, I appreciate all of that. As a new user
of the game, I obviously didn't know how this game is supposed to work. Now
I know you're supposed to have lots of active games on the go, I'm clear on
things. It will be interesting to see how quickly someone gets the turn, if
I can persuade my son to install it lol. Cheers Steve.

Hi Steve. What happens if I am playing with you and when I take my turn you
are sleeping? Should I wait for you to wake up and go about your normal life
and then take your turn after, or should you wake up immediately to take
your turn so I don't have to wait so long? smile.
Please don't take this as sarcasm, but as thinking of it from the other way
around. When you play a game like Dice World, you will play against real
people who have real lives and who might live in a different part of the
world as yourself. So, to minimize the long wait times if that's not what
you want to do, then you might consider only playing with people in your
same time zone, but even then you have the real life factor to deal with.
There are times when I go through my turns in the morning before I go to
work, or while I'm on my way to a client's home.
So it can vary. There are times when I'm bored at night and take a few turns
before going to bed. Other times I go a couple of days without taking my
turn. You have up to 5 days to take your turn before you forfeit. So, I
think this is generous. There have been a few players who have stopped
playing with me because I sometimes take 1 or 2 days to respond, but that is
ok because I can't keep up with more than 25 games at the same time if
players want me to take my turn just as soon as they do. There are times
when I have an hour to kill and will play 3 or 4 games in a row with one
player and ignore the rest of the games because I know that he/she is online
at that time and it's like we are playing face to face. You just gotta find
what works right for you is all.

Hope this helps.

Exactly Raul. I have a life too outside of Dice World or any other game that
I play with people. I hate it when people rush me to take my turn,

someone tell you to Play, when you're doing something else. Oh yeah since

You can't expect everyone to play a game all the way through immediately
when a game is started. That is not how these type games work Some might go
ahead and finish a game when it is first started, but most people don't. If
that is your expectation with any turn base games such as Dice World, you
might as well just delete all of them.

RE: Dice World, am I missing something?

2014-03-17 Thread Steve Spamer
Yep, appreciate that, but this is when I take my turn immediately after I've
got the notification. Also, my son said one of the players is in france,
which is only 1 hour ahead, anyway, we'll see how it goes, cheers steve.

I would say, Time difference from Country to Country.

The other player could be in The USA, Australia, or anywhere else in the
World for that matter.

Best regards,

Subject: Dice World, am I missing something?

Hi folks. Ok so I've got Dice World and I've set up some Farkle games, but
what I don't quite get is the time difference between turns? I currently
have 3 games active, but it can take 9 hours or more for the other person to
take their turn!!! Now is this because they are waiting that long? or is it
something to do with the game sending that information to that player?

Anyway, it's a fun little game, but I can't see myself playing it, if it
takes over a week to play a game lol! Advice please! Cheers Steve.

You could be playing someone clear across the globe which of course would mean
they are on a different time zone, so they play when they are able to.

Re: Dice World, am I missing something?

It is not 3 days, it is 5 days. In the help section under frequently asked
questions, it says:
A player will forfeit a game if they do not make a move in 5 days.

It's neither. Some people just take longer. After three days, the game will
expire. They have that long to respond to your move. Most people respond within
an hour or two, but some people take much longer.

Re: Dice World, am I missing something?

2014-03-17 Thread Paul Ferrara
Steve, it all depends on who you are playing; if they are not online at that
time, it can take time for them to play and take their turn; the more games,
the less you deal with this.
