I think I figured out what the problem is. Go into settings and turn off the option to hide the extended keyboard and that should bring your choices back from markdown header and link etc. Let me know if that works. I think I figured out what's going on with your missing options for markdown. Go into settings and turn off the hide extended keyboard setting. I think that will bring back your options for markdown header, smart link etc. Let me know if it works. I think it will. If you flick right from the text field you should find both options available. Mark down header and insert smart link are quite a bit down the list but they are both present. I hope this helps.
