Hi friends,

I have never played any game on my Iphone. I would be grateful
if

someone can be kind enough to suggest me some addictive and
mindcatching games that are accessible. Also, how does one know
whether a particular game is a solo game or can be played in the
gamecentre. I would appreciate help. Thank you.

With best wishes,

These are online games, work right off the page, text only and minimised on
data transfer and screen clutter so work quite well on
tablets and phones. They tend to force you to think, apart from slot machine,
which is pretty mindless but good if you like to try
a flutter. Multi-dice is good to have around to use in conjunction with table
games you have, or gambling with a live partner with
you.

Also: http://hoh.me.uk/mob

Is other stuff too, made as succint and minimnal as the games, and a games link
is there anyway. So keeping this latter link in
favourites might be an idea.

You don't need to buy these, I wrote them for fun! They'd even work on an old
Nokia!

You could certainly play any games not based on hearing and reflexes on a
Braille display provided they work with Voiceover. You can turn off the speech
and leave Voiceover running. This is useful when reading books on a braille
display. Having done this, you'd be able to play King of Dragon Pass, Evertree
Inn and any other choose your own adventure style games. Also, Frotz can work
wonderfully making hundreds of text adventures accessible through braille. You
just need to be familiar with all the key commands Voiceover has for allowing
you to control your iOS device with your Braille display. It has always amazed
me that organisations interested in promoting the use of Braille haven't done
more to encourage and spread the word about this kind of thing. Dice World
works well as does Seven Little Words. Many of the Blindfold games should work
fine that way also. Hope that helps get you started.

Unfortunately, we've recently had some of the best audio adventure games
including Papa Sangre II become unavailable in the app store. Hopefully,
we'll see some new complex audio adventures soon. In the meantime, the
Frotz app works with Voiceover and lets you play interactive fiction
written in Tads or Inform. This includes old Infocom games if you have
copies of them. I don't know where to legally obtain the Infocom library of
adventures at the moment but have copies from a CDROM I bought over a
decade ago. I'm very thankful I made that particular $40 purchase. Lots of
excellent free text adventures available for Frotz.

Re: Games for the blind

2017-02-10 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
hi,
Not being a game player, I have not experimented with my iPhone, but I do
remember, a long time ago, enjoying playing monkey Island and Discworld on the
old PC. however, they won't accessible with screen reader, I could see the
screen reasonably well in those days. now, is it possible? other games like
monkey Island or Discworld that I can play on my iPhone using voice over? I
would love it if I could…

ever hopeful, Sandy

All of the games on that site were played and tested and that is why they
are listed, as recommendations with notes about whether or not they are
completely accessible with VoiceOver. I have added many games that I myself
tested and found that work well for a blind game player. It is a great
resource as they have been played by blind gamers.

Re: Games for the blind

2017-02-10 Thread Michael Feir
I currently have around 80 games on my iPHONE. Some of the newer ones
include Evertree Inn which combines a murder mystery with rpg statistics
and choose your own adventure mechanics. Very easy to learn but hard to
win. Another great new casual puzzle game is Super Tile Smash. You need to
set your rotor to vertical navigation to easily look up and down columns of
tiles. There's alsoblind imatch which is another jem matching game. King of
Dragon Pass has a permanent spot on my iPHOnE. Games don't get much more
replayable and deeply satisfying than that one but it has a learning curve.
Dice World still draws everyone in. So does Seven Little Words. Have a good
look in the games section of the Applevis app directory. There are loads of
game to choose from.

Re: Games for the blind

2017-02-10 Thread Denny Schwab
Hello,

The games I like, and that are accessible, are:

King of Dragon Pass
A Blind Legend
Lord and Knights
Cribbage Pro
Chesswise
Shredder Chess
RoboE

I have tried several more of the blind-friendly games out there, and
there are a lot that are quite accessible. The above are the ones I
ended up staying with for at least a while.

An area that I have really started to enjoy plaing in is the MUD
clients. I have the Mud Rammer installed on my Iphone and this gives
you access to a slew of different Muds right out of the box. You can
also add in other Muds as you find ones not in the standard list. I
play AlterAeon as the main Mud I have found that I like so far.

Before making game suggestions it would be helpful to know what type of games
you are interested in playing. There are quite a few games in all game
categories that are accessible for the blind to play using voiceover.

Subject: Games for the blind

Hi friends,

I have never played any game on my Iphone. I would be grateful if
someone can be kind enough to suggest me some addictive and
mindcatching games that are accessible. Also, how does one know
whether a particular game is a solo game or can be played in the
gamecentre. I would appreciate help. Thank you.

With best wishes,

Ketan
