Re: Mark on the K N F B Reader

2015-01-08 Thread Wayne Merritt
Mark,
I also recently bought the KNFB Reader and have been amazed as well.
During the holidays I went out to Denny's and out of curiosity, I
scanned the Denny's menu from front to back. The Reader did extremely
well, even when there were pictures on the pages. Some text was
distorted or not recognized correctly, but for the most part
everything came out well. I saved the file to refer back to later on
future visits.

 Subject: Mark on the K N F B Reader

 Hello Everyone,

During the recent K N F B Reader sale, I purchased a copy from the App
 Store.

For years, I heard about how well the reader worked on the Symbian
 platform.
Of course, as fate would have it, I was a Windows Mobile user. By the time
I considered exploring Symbian, the iPhone 3GS hit the market and into the
 Apple orchard, went I.

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the ease-of-use of the reader
 and
how versatile it appears to be.

The accuracy is stunning, to say the least. I am running the app on an
 iPhone 5 S with iOS 7.12.

When I purchased the app, I took it for a test drive, so to speak, and it
read several documents I received in the mail, including insurance
statements, bank notices, etc very well.

On Friday, I was sitting in an office waiting room. On the table in front
of me were several magazines. On a whim, I snapped a shot of a cover of
 one
of the magazines and, despite the image on the cover, it was read almost
perfectly. So, I decided to browse the magazine with the reader. As I had
my headset attached to the phone, I disturbed no one and was able to, on
 the
 fly, access printed material. Marvelous.

Now keep in mind that I do have some usable residual vision such that I do
not need to first place the phone in the center of the page and then raise
it up in order to get a good shot of the document. Nevertheless, not until
now have I ever been able to enjoy reading printed material, on the fly,
without magnification, in such a relaxed manner.

What a wonderful piece of technology and how fortunate we are to live at a
time when such things are possible.
