Subject: My thoughts on new lineup of phones

I think apple has appealed to all audiences here. There is a high cost
phone that has all the great video and photo taking tools. And even has
stereo microphones and speakers, and a great looking stainless steel
body. Then you have the XR that is priced at the same price that the 6
and above was. And your not losing much quality, it’s even a bit larger
than the X and XS, has longer battery life, and even comes in different
colors. And let’s be frank here. A little under 10 years ago, you had
to spend 400 bucks for a phone, and then spend 300 more bucks to get
mobile speak or talk back or whatever the Nokia version was. That equals
700 bucks, and low and behold, the low priced iPhone for the last 5 years
is 700 bucks, 50 bucks more if you want more storage. So I don’t think
this is a bad price point for apple, they are making sure everyone can
get the latest and greatest in there hands. And all the carriers let you
pay for your device monthly, and apple even let’s you trade in devices
for instant store credit. This is just my opinion, but I think just like
the low cost iPad that came out this past spring is a great price point
for us as consumers. I think the XR is going to be the better selling
phone this year. I don’t think paying an extra 350 bucks for a better
camera, video recorded in stereo, and a stainless steel back is worth it.
Again, this is my opinion, not fact. Your thoughts?

Re: My thoughts on new lineup of phones

2018-09-14 Thread Kelly Pierce
I don’t like paying more for iPhones, but I work a boring job to
afford beautifully expensive toys. With iOS 12, Apple has extended iOS
updates to six years instead of five. Delaying an upgrade for a year
will more than pay for the higher cost for the basic phone, the iPhone
Xr.

For the XR color phones does anyone happen to know the color the front of the
phone? Are they all white? I like the idea better of a color back in a black
front.

Thank you,

Re: My thoughts on new lineup of phones

2018-09-13 Thread Mary Otten
The other thing to keep in mind is that the dollar doesn’t by with the dollar
used to buy. When you purchased that n75, I bet it was 10 years ago or more. A
lot of things have gotten a lot more expensive in the last 10 to 15 years,
including phones, which I’ve also gotten more capable than that n75.

ha but the real question is when will enough be enough. When they
decide to charge 2000 or 2500 for a phone. THe leasing option is
pretty much the same as getting you in a contract for 2 years. I do
like that you now have stereo mics, but I am still thinking if you are
someone that really wants to upgrade waiting until next year might be
best.

Re: My thoughts on new lineup of phones

2018-09-13 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I was able to get pretty nice Nokia phones for much less then $400. I
think my Nokia N-75 cost me $100. I only paid $300 for Talks the first
time I purchased it, and I only paid $100 to have it activated on
subsequent phones. Therefore, it only cost me $200 to get my 3rd Nokia
phone with a screen reader, and I did this five years before Apple had
an accessible smart phone.

Note I'm just correcting some information here. I appreciate what Apple
has done and my iPhones, and I don't begrudge what I pay to get my
accessible smart phones these days. That's not to say others wouldn't
appreciate more affordable options, but then you can still get older
iPhones that have a few more years left in them and of course Android
phones which have various price points. This is all with accessibility
built in off of the shelf, which is a good thing.
