Re: Facebook Pages app and working with a page on iPhone

2015-11-13 Thread Colin McDonald
I find using the FB app on my phone, the mobile site on my pc, and the regular
desktop site, while blowted, all work quite well.
If you don’t like facebook that’s something else entirely, but it’s not
inaccessible.
Now, if FB would just breakdown and allow for RSS feeds of pages and groups, an
easy way to select all your friends for events and invites then we’d be
laughing.

Especially when you need to access detailed information or make very specific
setting changes, you do have to use the main desktop website and not the app or
mobile version of the site.

If the Facebook Accessibility team are so good, why is Facebook such a mess to
work in full page, mobile site and on the iPhone? There a lot of questions on
my part, not the least part why I am unable to fix errors on my profile page,
errors FB made, collecting items from friends I have on FB and putting their
info in my profile. I can’t fix it, my late husband could not fix it, it
appears that using a screen reader it can’t be done. That is a major for me
since lately I have been getting friend requests with lots of wrong
impressions, people who don’t know what “blind” means, people who think that
because of that I should not live alone, have ever had a job …

Annoying to say the least. I’d dump it except it is the only way a few family
members communicate, even posting a picture with no description lets me know
they are alive and posting!

Re: Facebook Pages app and working with a page on iPhone

2015-11-13 Thread Colin McDonald
I’m sorry you are having trouble with it, but both are very easy to do even
with the mobile version of the facebook site.
Posting is about as easy as it can get with the IPhone app, but updating your
profile has to be done on a computer either via the m.facebook.com site or the
desktop site.
It’s not really difficult to figure out if you just familiarize yourself with
it.
I use facebook for work and personal, everyday, with my IPhone using VO and my
PC using JAWS and there is nothing I can’t do on facebook.
It can seem a bit overwhelming, especially the desktop site because of all the
headings and stuff they cram on there, but if you use the mobile site on your
computer, it is far simpler. Also, adding people to your close friends list
puts them into your notifications feed which makes browsing recent status
updates and reading comments far easier and simpler.
Does it read your mind to know what you want and how you want it, no lol, but
you can customize your experience quite easily.

Did you tell it to locate you're device then go to near by businesses

type in the business then look for the next button double tap it then
double tap the search button the first result you should find is the
business you are looking for.

RE: white pages app question

2013-09-24 Thread DJ
Wow, I've never had to do all of that. All I've done is tap find a
business, enter a business name or type of business, and tap search in
the bottum right corner of the keyboard.

BTW, the app is working well as it always has for me. I'm using it in IOS7
as well.

Hi,

A problem I have with Pages is that if I double-tap to edit and then try to
read the document, focus gets very confused if I read to the end of a page
and try to advance to the next one. And while it does have a search feature,
it's sometimes hard to find text even if Pages has located the text I'm
looking for. I definitely recommend using a keyboard or braille display with
it.

Anna

Re: The pages app.

2013-02-16 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

Find is much more reliable for VoiceOver in AccessNote, meaning focus goes
right to the text you are searching for. Reading is also continuous regardless
of whether you are editing the text or not. It only works with plain text
files, though, so depending on your needs, this could be a problem. But for
writing or reading files and being able to find the text you want quickly,
AccessNote works better, in my experience.

Best,
Anna

Re: The pages app.

2013-02-14 Thread Kimber Gardner
One of the main problems with this app is if you inadvertently touch
the area of the screen where the text is being written, it is very
easy to lose your place and end up typing text in a place other than
where you thought your cursor was positioned, i.e. at the end of
existing text. As Richard said, this is less of a problem if you use a
bluetooth keyboard or braile display where you would have less chance
of accidentally moving the cursor.

Other than that, it's a pretty good app.

Re: The pages app.

2013-02-14 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

A problem I have with Pages is that if I double-tap to edit and then try to
read the document, focus gets very confused if I read to the end of a page and
try to advance to the next one. And while it does have a search feature, it's
sometimes hard to find text even if Pages has located the text I'm looking for.
I definitely recommend using a keyboard or braille display with it.

Best,
Anna

Re: The pages app

2012-04-25 Thread Bobby Druesedow
I have paired my focus 40 blue with the iPhone and tried to using pages, but I
did not have much success. I use a great deal of technology and do not find
pages and acceptable and efficient means for taking notes or for editing
documents. I may be the only one who feels this way, but the other apps that
can be used for notetaking or working with documents are much more efficient
these apps include noticing as well as several other text editors. I would not
recommend it as a good wife for a college student to work. Hope this helps..

Hello all. Can someone who has the pages app email me off-list? I have
several questions about the ability to search a document. A friend of mine is

student. He is also considering a Braille Note Apex. Any opinions on or
 off-list would be greatly appreciated.

Re: The pages app

2012-04-25 Thread Clinton Waterbury
As far as Pages goes, I've noticed the same thing.
I use documents2 for note taking and the like.
Not only because it's accessible, but because it's also cheep for what you get
for such a good app.
