Re: Update to Getting Started book

2013-01-01 Thread Kelly Pierce
Realize there are two parts to book production at NBP. One part is
the completed book by the author that is fully edited and proofread.
Then it is turned into the various formats. It is NBP policy to make
all formats available at the same time. People who would want an
electronic version need to wait until it is recorded in audio and
transcribed into Braille and embossed. the time frame for the second
process is completely independent from the author.

the gestures, and this book's method of just teaching the needed gestures
as you go made a huge difference for me. It has really been a lifesaveer.
I am about to start teaching the iphone and VoiceOver, and I plan to
purchase this book for each of our clients to use as a reference guide.
So, my question is (Anna, I know you are on this list), when will the
supplement be coming out? Also, I'm hoping in addition to a
supplement, there will also be a full updated version? A third edition,
basically?? When I get the book for my clients, I feel like it will be
confusing to ask them to read the main book, but then ignore parts of it
and refer to a supplement. It would be much easier to have everything in
 one book.

 Thank you,

Re: Update to Getting Started book

2013-01-01 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hello Julie,

I'm so glad you've found the book helpful and plan to share it with your
clients.

I'm still working on the supplement. I hope it will be done soon. While I
understand that having one book is easier than having a book and a supplement,
it's simply not practical to do a whole book every year. The supplement will
include all the lists of keyboard shortcuts, gesture shortcuts, etc., so you
won't need the old book for that sort of basic information. I hope that will
help. I hope that you and your clients will find the supplement helpful.

Best,
Anna
