Re: Voice dream library back up

2015-11-11 Thread Christina C.
Hello,

I was successful today in restoring my voice dream Reader library via file
sharing in iTunes. I needed to restore my iPhone but could not do a restore
from backup. I did not want to lose my entire VDR library and all of the
bookmarks and highlights. I followed the directions on the VDR website. The key
step that I would have missed was deleting the voice Dream reader library off
of my iPhone within file Sharing in iTunes. Anyways, I followed the directions
and it worked like a charm for me. I will paste the link below that contain the
directions. I do suggest performing an iCloud or iTunes backup just in case. It
worked for me and all of my bookmarks are in tact. I just wanted to pass it
along in case you ever need to uninstall voice Dream Reader and re-install it
due to problems.

RE: Voice dream library back up

2015-08-26 Thread Alan Lemly
Ari,

Thanks for that clarification. I still get a bit confused about the separate
file sharing through iTunes for Voice Dream since I've never been able to go
the other way and restore anything from my computer to my phone using file
sharing and Voice Dream. But I'm happy since my iTunes encrypted backup
covers me.

Alan, two examples I can think of off the top of my head besides VDR are
ringtone apps and an rather nifty app called StormSim. Those apps save files
to a specific area within their app sandbox, and you save them to your
computer using iTunes's file sharing feature. Most of the time, the only way
to back up these files is by using iTunes file sharing. Well, you could
share some of them with the share button and most apps, but sometimes the
only way to get the files is through iTunes file sharing.

2015-08-25 Thread Brett
Hi,

I have restored from an iTunes backup and my Voicedream library was restored.

I have not had to restore from an iCloud backup, so cannot varify this.

Cheers,
Brett.

RE: Voice dream library back up

Ari,

I guess I'm confused too. Can you provide some more details on what type of
files would be part of the app data that you're supposed to back up on your
own? And how exactly does one back up data on their iDevice? I was under the
impression that the only way to do it was using iTunes either to one's local
computer or to iCloud.
