hi, everyone, I also have the focus 40 blue and absolutely love it. The dots
are very clear. I love to read on it, but I don't do much writing on it. It's
fabulous! Esther

RE: What is your favorite braille display to use with iPhone?

2021-01-26 Thread Debby
Hi,

As you can see you have a number of choices. It really does depend on how much
you want the device to do and what you can afford. Right now my favorite is a
mantis Q40 from the American Printing House, APH. It has a qwerty keyboard and
a 40 cell braille display. It also has some note taking capabilities, and you
can read materials from Bookshare and NFB Newsline. The price if $2,495.

APH also has the Chameleon 20. It has a braille keyboard and a 20 cell display.
I have not seen one, so I can’t provide any more information.

Take care and stay safe!

Re: What is your favorite braille display to use with iPhone?

2021-01-25 Thread Jasmine Kotsay
Hi, Dana,
I use my focus 14 braille display, and I love it, even though it doesn’t
display much text. Another braille display I would like to recommend is the
Brailliant 14. I have seen a Brailliant braille display before, and it looked
pretty good. I like the 14 sell braille displays because they are so small and
compact. They don’t take up too much space, and I can fit my braille display
into a pretty small bag.

Re: What is your favorite braille display to use with iPhone?

2021-01-25 Thread Richard Turner
I use the Orbit Reader 20 pllus. The Orbit Reader 40 should be out soon. The
20 plus is $699 and I believe the 40 will be $1499.
The Orbit displays have the best feeling braille of any display I have used.
And in my career as a braille instructor, I handled just about all of them.
Of course, it depends on what kind of things you will be doing beyond
connecting with the iPhone.
You can read about their displays at www.orbitresearch.com

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon
airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep
space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was
young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen."

Hi Dana.

I don’t use the braille part that much, but I love the control it gives me over

than using the on-screen keyboard. I looked at the Focus 14, but it displays
too little of the text.

My husband and I are very interested in buying some braille displays. And we
definitely are going to need two of them and we want some of that work well
with our iPhones. We’re trying to find some good prices on them. And also ones
that are very reliable and good. What are your favorites? Dana
