Ringtone Maker Pro tells you that if the tone you want to create is to be 
used as an alarm or alert it cannot exceed 30 seconds in length.

I think the ring time is only 10 seconds.  That's about as long as it rings 
on my iPhone 5s before going to voice mail.

You should talk to your carrier, that's not hardly enough time to pick up
the call unless you have the phone right there, 10 seconds is only 2 rings.

Same as with ringtones except I believe a message alert tone has to be 5
seconds or less, you could just google this. Anyhow, they also have to be
M4R and you add and remove them via itunes just as with ringtones.

Message allert tones can be longer than 5 seconds.  There are a couple of
contacts which I have a 20 second sound set for.  It works just fine.

Yes, you can make alert or message tones longer, I guess I wasn't too clear
about this, but what I meant is that if you specifically want to make an
alert tone to try and limit it to a maximum of 5 seconds because who wants
to listen to a 20 or 25 second long alert that a text message or email just
arrived.
