Re: eBook reader

2016-06-23 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello David,

In Kobo, you need the page transition to be set to None. Then, once you’ve
opened a book, find the bottom righthand corner of the screen which should show
the number of pages in the chapter. Double-tap on this and some other fields
should appear to the left. One of them is Location in book, which really means
location in chapter. Double-tapping the arrow field to the right of this takes
you to the next chapter. Location in book is also where you can advance through
the chapter should you have been interrupted and you want to find where you
were. You swipe upward to advance through the pages, and double-tap to go to
that position. Unfortunately, the position is expressed as a percentage of the
way through the chapter, but having double-tapped on Location in book, the last
field will show the page number in the chapter.
To go back a chapter, double-tap on the arrow field two to the left of Location
in book. I have no idea what the field just to the left of Location in book
does.
To make the toolbar containing iPhone Contents etc disappear, you need to
double-tap twice somewhere in the middle of the screen, and you do the same
thing to make it appear again. Sometimes, I have to turn VoiceOver off to get
this to work.

Just ask me if you have any other questions as Kobo is probably the app I use
most. I have over 400 books in my Kobo library so I have lots of experience
with it.

Cheers,

Anne

2016-06-22 Thread Alan Lemly
David,

I have no experience regarding accessibility with VoiceOver of eReaders that
work with books requiring an Adobe ID but have you tried the Adobe Digital
Editions app? The Apps Store description says it works with Adobe DRM content
so I assume it will work with your books provided it is accessible.

Hi,

I would like to read eBooks which require an Adobe ID. The recommended app is
Bluefire. However, this app is not accessible, i.e. it’s not possible to read
the text itself even though most controls are usable. I’ve also tried Voice
Dream Reader but it doesn’t seem to support Adobe ID.

Has anyone got a tip for a eBook reader that works with VoiceOver?
