Re: The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Hi Unfortunately it still talks with VO off. I can't really just turn VO off every time I want to use it either as the inbuilt screen reader doesn't work with search. VoiceOver doesn't work with search either, so for me at least the apps a complete writeoff for now. Cheers, Ben. On 2/10/18, Jesper Holten wrote: > Hi. Itr is truely anoying that is for sure. Hi. Itr is truely anoying that is for sure. One thing I will try is to disable voiceover and then start the app, then turn Vo on again to see if it works. Unfortunately, apples accessibility team will probably not do anything about this, since it is third-party apps. The best course of action is to contact google and or Verizon or Amazon. Isn't the Amazon Prime Video app doing the same thing? I find it curious why these companies/developers feel they need to make their apps accessible by including a self-voicing TTS when the Apple TV is perfectly accessible with Voiceover. I think we should let Apple Accessibility know about thios as well as of course Youtube. This would be like Microsoft starting Narrator on a Windows 10 PC in addition to Jaws with no option to turn it off. Re: The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Hello Ben, Yes, I also get the TTS in addition to VoiceOver with the new YouTube app on the fourth generation Apple TV. From my testing of the app, it does not seem like one can disable the TTS; it seems like a setting that gets enabled when it detects that VoiceOver is on. I did notice though that the parts of the app are accessible with the TTS at least and I could disable VoiceOver after getting into the app. I am not sure what occurs when a video starts playing if those controls are still accessible when VoiceOver is disabled. The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Hi all The Youtube app on my 4th gen Apple TV received an update a couple of days ago; it got quite a bit of coverage online - the main takeaway being that the old version was much better. One thing that wasn't mentioned however was that they appear to have implemented their own screen reader - E.G. if you open the app and navigate around, you'll hear the apps TTS talking as well as VO. My questions: Can someone with a 4th gen or 4K Apple TV test this for me? Does anyone know how to turn it off? It obviously isn't happening to sighted people so it must be something that I've enabled but I can't think what. Cheers, Ben. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
