Re: Torrents with iTunes and i devices

2013-08-01 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I think the 99% number is a bit high, but I would agree that most of
your torrent traffic is probably distributing copyrighted or protected
content and most of this is probably illegal. Note that torrents can
also be used to legitimately distribute DRM and other protected content.

I don't know why Apple doesn't allow torrent apps, and in fact, I'm not
sure Apple doesn't allow torrent aps. It isn't because torrents are
illegal though. I suspect it has to do with controlling how content gets
on your iPhone.

Moderator note -was- Re: Torrents with iTunes and i devices

2013-07-31 Thread Cara Quinn
HI Shane and all.

As others have mentioned here, torrents / torrent clients in and of themselves
are not illegal and from your message I cannot tell if the torrents you're
speaking of are illegal.

Just so you and others know, no illegal activity of any kind is welcome here
nor will it be tolerated.

So in short if you're downloading legal torrents that's cool. If you're not
then this is your warning to take this discussion off list immediately.

Just wanting to make this crystal clear for you and others. K?

thanks a bunch and have an awesome day!

Smiles,

Cara :)

Hi,

no. Torrent apps within themselves are not illegal. The thing is, many people
use them to illegally download content. There’s a difference.

Re: Torrents with iTunes and i devices

2013-07-31 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I didn't see anyone talking about getting anything free or breaking any
DRM. Torrents are used to distribute a lot of material perfectly legally.

I'm also not sure why anyone would think this is off topic for the list
since it has to do with getting media on to your iDevice.

I'd agree with Kliphton though. The idea I think would be to convert
your DVD into a media format recognized by the iPhone and then using
iTunes to transfer the media to your iDevice just like you would any
other media.

But to answer your question, it depends on the format. If it is a
movie, it needs to be in the MP4 format. There are a few paid programs
out there that do this. But it all depends on the os your using. On
windows I use a program called movavi, not a miss spelled word there.
And on the mac a lot of people like DVD remaster but it costs 50
bucks. Handbreak also does this, and it is free for both windows and
mac. There is another program that removes incription for you, converts

mac DVD ripper PRO, it's 25 bucks, but does everything you need it too. HTH

if you want to be able to play pretty much what ever file you want on your IOS
