Two Apps ONE Name!

2013-01-02 Thread sensex
The iphone has a native Camera app. I installed 1 Touch Camera. An app that
takes pictures the moment you launch it.
To my surprise the app is also labelled Camera. When I change its name to
1Touch Camera, then both apps are renamed! When I change the name of one app
the other is automatically also renamed!!
How do I ensure that the two apps have different names?
I am using 4S with 6.01
the reason I particularly want different names for the two apps is that I can
tell Siri to Launch 1Touch Camera and it will automatically start taking
pictures! A voice command camera! But only if it has a unique name. This will
not work if 2 apps have the same name.

Welcome to a bug that came in with iOS 6.
Please report this to:
accessibil...@apple.com
I have three dictionary apps all called dictionary, but visually they are
different. This is clearly a VoiceOver bug.
The more people that point it out may increase the likelihood of a fix
coming in a future release. Now all you can do is keep track of where each
app is.

HTH,
Richard

RE: Two Apps ONE Name!

2013-01-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi ?Richard,

That is not a new bug, I had the exact same problem with the Camera and One
Touch Camera app in iOS 5. The funny thing was that I at some point deleted
the One Touch Camera app and relabeled the stock Camera app againto say
Camera and after I installed iOS 6 it went back to saying One Touch Camera
and I had to relabel it again.

I even wrote Apple back last summer when I bought One Touch Camera about
this problem and I know other people experienced this with various weather
apps. I think more people should write to Apple about app names as I don't
think Apple should allow a developer to use a name for his/her app which is
already in use. I know there are about three quarters of a million apps, but
Apple has the control during the approval process and it should not be that
difficult for them to check whether a particular app name exists and, if so,
to ask the developer to rename it. I guess sighted users have other clues to
see which app is which, but if anything they really need to fix the labeling
issues in general and make it so giving a label to one app will not affect
other apps.

Regards,
Sieghard
