backing up iCloud

Hello friends, as we have a broad idea of, wifi connection, locked screen
and connected to charging are required for manually backing up data to
iCloud on iPhone running 8.4.1 device.



  Confusion here is, all the three things are required simultaneously or
just wifi will make the job done?

Hi,

You need to have the phone plugged in, locked, and connected to wifi, otherwise 
the automatic backups won’t occur.

As Daniel said, automatic backups only happen when all 3 criteria are 
satisfied, but you did mention manual backups. Those you can of course do any 
time and all that is needed is a WiFi connection, the phone does not have to be 
plugged in and obviously it can’t be locked since you have to go to Settings, 
iCloud, Backup and tap on “Backup Now”. If you are not connected to WiFi the 
backup now option is not available, i.e. it is dimmed and can’t be tapped.

Hi,

You can use battery and have the screen unlocked if you're backing up manually. 
But an automatic backup will only start if it's been at least 24 hours since 
the last backup, the screen is locked, you have a Wi-Fi connection, and your 
phone is plugged in. Once any backup starts, whether automatic or manual, you 
can use your phone normally.

That's correct. Automatic won't, true. sorry, when I replied and said I
back up over Wi-Fi all the time, I meant that I initiate the backup

You can, yes, but she’s talking about the automatic backups, that don’t require 
any intervention on the users part.
