flash, searching on internet

2013-04-06 Thread Pablo Morales
Hi all again
Browsing internet, I was reading that jailbreak the iPhone to play flash is
ilegal. Why it is iLegal?
If apple dosent like flash, it is ok, but why we don't have the entitle to use
our iDevices running videos or aoudio on flash?
Can somebody help me to understand it?
Thanks
Pablo

RE: flash, searching on internet

2013-04-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Pablo,

You don't have to Jailbreak your phone to use websites with flash content.
The Photon browser which you can download in the app store supports flash.

Keep in mind that I never tried it, I heard about it on the Today in iOS
Podcast and since I couldn't remember the name I just did a quick Google
search for the following:

iOS internet browsers with flash support

The second search result had the following title, the link follows:

Top Flash-Enabled Browsers for the iPhone

http://ipod.about.com/od/bestiphoneapps/tp/Top-iPhone-Flash-Browsers.htm

The person who posted this writes Some people claim that because the iPhone
doesn't support Flash, you can't get the full Internet on it. But with these
apps--all of which claim to bring Flash to the iPhone--that's no longer
true. The question, of course, isn't whether they can play Flash, but
whether they can play it well enough to make it usable. That's a different
story.

Following that is a list of apps you can download which are browsers that
support flash. I guess you just have to experiment not only how well they
handle flash, but also to their accessibility. You can always check
www.applevis.com to see if any of the browsers mentioned have been reviewed
on Applevis.

Good luck,

Sieghard

This may sound like a rather naive question, but I never knew before that you
could use flash on iOS, so I am seriously going to investigate the apps on the
below link. However, a lot of what was referred to on the website was video and
photos, is it also possible to use these apps to read magazines that are in
flash content four example?

Re: flash, searching on internet

2013-04-06 Thread David Chittenden
Flash is primarily an audio/video feed. If memory serves, it was originally
used for animations. Flash was originally completely inaccessible. After
several years, some accessibility was added to the format. However, my
understanding is that, at least a couple years ago, it was necessary for the
Flash coder to specifically add in accessibility or the presentation would not
be accessible.

In the case of the Photon browser app, an app which I have never used, my
understanding is the flash content is rendered, by a server, into an AV stream
which can then be played in the browser app. Accessibility, therefore, would
most likely be rather limited. I heard from a blind person that audio streams
can be listened to using the browser, but text could not be read. Again, please
note: I have never used the app. Everything stated here about it is third-party
hearsay.
