Re: flick and swipe
Oops. If memory serves me well, I heard in the hints in iBooks to swipe up to adjust the value. Actually I wanted to know if it was possible to enter a page number mannually in Ibooks to reach that page quickly. - Original Message - From: christopher hallsworth christopher...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2012 3:16 PM Subject: Re: flick and swipe Swiping is going from left to right or vice versa. Re: flick and swipe
Hello, First, flick and swipe is the same thing. Yes, it is possible to jump pages in iBooks, but it is a little difficult. Remember, touch-screens are set up for sighted people. Visually, the page selector at the bottom of the screen is a horizontal slider. A sighted person touches that slider in the approximate position representing the percentage through the book. The person then slides their finger slowly to get the page to the one they require. For a blind person using VoiceOver, there are two methods for accomplishing the same thing. 1) when you find the page selector, use up and down flicks to move the page one page at a time. Use a double-tap to move the page selector ahead a small percentage of pages at a time, but this only moves the pages forward. 2) If you find the page selector rather than flicking to it with horizontal flicks, use the double tap and hold passthrough gesture with one finger and wait for the triple ascending tones. After the tones, the slider will work the way it does for sighted people. Very small movements can move lots of pages (depending on the size of the book). Each time the finger is still for a little while, VO will speak the number of the page currently selected. Sometimes, the page is not announced until the finger is lifted. In this case, another double tap and hold is necessary to continue this method of page change. Note: this is also how one can quickly go through the letters with the vertical selector in the contacts app, the various iPod media players, and any other app selector which is accessible. It is necessary to know if the selector is vertical or horizontal to use the second method. I figure this out by exploring the screen. flick and swipe
Dear all. I used to assume that swipe is the same thing as flick. It doesn't seem to be the correct assumption. Swiping is going from left to right or vice versa. On 23 Aug 2012, at 17:36, Tara Prakash wrote: Dear all. I used to assume that swipe is the same thing as flick. Re: flick and swipe
Flick and swipe are the same thing. It is a short to medium length movement which is rapid and in a specific direction. A slide, on the other hand, which is a normal gesture, is a slower but consistent speed movement along a line across the iOS device.
