how to stop VO from announcing names of callers?

2018-04-16 Thread Cris Ali
Hello Folks,
The subject heading says it all. I need to know how to stop voice over from
announcing the names of callers. I do not like it that when I am sitting with
a group of people and I receive a call, everyone in the group knows who is
calling me.
Is there a way of doing that? I do not need to block my caller id, because
when I call people, some of them do not like to receive calls from unknown
numbers.

If anyone knows a trick of how to prevent Voice Over from saying the names of
callers, I would truly appreciate it.

Regards,

Cris

There are actually a couple of ways you can set up your iPhone so incoming
calls will not be announced.

1) Manually turn on “Do Not Disturb” keeping in mind that if you have
permissions set for some callers to bypass this their calls will still be
announced.

2) Go to and select the option best suited
for your circumstances.

Also, if you disable “Announce Calls” you may also want to go to
and set that so you will at least know if you’ve
received a call during these meetings (or any other time you you have “Announce
Calls” disabled).

don't recommended to acctive this because that we are getting double

announce calls. I recommend to turn it of and not to use this for blind

RE: how to stop VO from announcing names of callers?

2018-04-17 Thread Tom Rash
You could do a three finger double tap when you know you don’t want the names
announced. This should stop voice over from announcing who is calling until
you decided to unmute with the same three finger double tap.

Thanks Lielle,

I am disappointed. I was hoping to find a way of silencing VO from saying the
names of callers.

Regards,

Cris

2018-04-17 Thread Tom Lange
Hi,
As Sieghard suggested, turn on the mute switch, and, for good measure you could
also turn speech off if you’re not going to do anything with the phone while
you’re in a meeting or whatever. I do that all the time when I’m in meetings
and not using my phone.
