Hi Adrienne,
You can have the Today screen on the first iPad home screen all the time, or
set it to only come up when you swipe right with three fingers on the first
home screen. You may need to add bAtteries to the Today screen, though. When
you have that screen active, choose Edit if Batteries isn't listed, find
Batteries, and double-tap the Add bAtteries button to add it.
