RE: iPhone sanitizer

2020-12-01 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I’d only use them on a screen protector of a phone,
I’ve seen what can happen to an iMac screen when alcohol is used to wipe it
down,

But just wiping your phone down with a damp cloth is all you need really,

Put it this way,

You wipe your phone down with a wipe of any kind,
You then put it in your pocket and grab a door handle or stair rail or grab
handle of a bus / public transport and your hands are again covered in bacteria

Your phone is a small carrier of this kind,
But good luck to those that want to spend the money on such things.

I’ll just sit here and keep picking my nose and scratching my butt.

RE: iPhone sanitizer

2020-12-01 Thread Richard Turner
I too would not buy one of these UV sanitizers to use on an iPhone, but for the
people who are extra concerned about germs, they may want to consider one to
use on their money.

When my wife was in college, she did an experiment for her biology class so she
could avoid the frog dissection.
She took several petri dishes and swabs and went to the bank and asked for some
money to take samples from.
The teller was quite interested and watched as she took swabs from a variety of
bills.
She found lots of bacteria, including Staff and Strep.
So, it is probably a good idea to at least wash your hands after handling
money, or if you want to go all the way, use one of these UV sanitizers on your
cash.

UV light is used in many applications including in water filters and I assume
it probably works well enough. Would I spend money for something like this?
Probably not, I wash my hands frequently and from time to time I just wipe down
my iPhone. I think it's important to realize that sometimes devices like this
may give you a false sense of security, I think it's still much better to wash
yur hands with soap and warm water often and simply don't touch more stuff than
you have to when you are out and about. Certainly those of you in Australia and
New Zealand can sit back and gloat if you wish since the super strict
lock-downs early on in your countries have maybe not illiminate COVID-19
completely, but they have virtually illiminated community transmission and you

I use one from an unknown company that works quite well. You put in your phone,
start the cleaning process by pressing a button which beeps. After five
minutes, you get a short sequence of three beeps to tell you the cleaning is
over. This is a great, accessible mainstream gadget.

Funny you should ask. I've not used them, but in the November issue of Access
World, the following was mentioned.Talking smartphone sanitizer

What do all of us touch thousands of times every day? Our smartphones or
tablets or other mobile devices. In response to this fact, devices employing
ultraviolet rays to disinfect phones and other small object grew quickly in
popularity with the pandemic.

Two unique models available from Mystic Access offer voice prompts to tell you
when the disinfecting process has begun and when it is complete. One model
offers aromatherapy as well, and both can accommodate other small items – think
cash, keys, credit cards, or other tiny items you touch all the time. Choose
between a five minute version with aromatherapy or fifteen minute version with
wireless charging capabilities. $65 from Mystic Access,

I got one of these from Mystic Access and it has voice on it and it's simple to
use. It's supposed to get rid of germs on your phone. You can use it for your
money, keys and other items. I really like mine.

RE: ISO feedback on an accessible iPhone sanitizer device (phone soap)

2020-05-02 Thread Cristóbal Muñoz
GRRR. I swear. I don’t know why my emails always get cut off.

Anyway,

To complete the below, it looks like they’re all more or less the same. Put
the phone in the device, and let the UV light do its thing for 5 or so
minutes.

It seems that they’re all light indicator driven. That’s fine and all. The
wife’s sighted and I can always just set a 5 minute timer on the phone
before placing it in the device, but in case there’s something out there
that either has some sort of sound or vibration mechanism to let you know
that the process is done, it would be good to know as well. As a bonus, if
there’s a phone soap thingy that can also do tablets (iPads)…

It looks like PhoneSoap.com is a pretty
popular site for these things.

Thanks,

Hello list,

So, was thinking of getting a phone sanitizer (phone soap) for me and the
wife.

It looks like they’re all more or less the same as far as concept. Put the
phone in
