I had the problem in version 14, but today I upgraded to 15, and the issue was

So weird! Interesting that some of us get it and others do not. Apple
Accessibility wrote back to me today and were unable to reproduce the issue.
They asked iabout language settings. I’m going to read through the email and
check what they suggest. I do not knowingly have any different languages
installed. Since I’m still apprehensive about the potential bug in the app
switcher in IOS 15, I’m not willing to upgrade yet.

So after reading the posts about the new pronunciation in ios 14.8, I tried it
out yesterday and I encountered the mispronunciation. I had not used the words
north Carolina or South Carolina recently so had not discovered the problem. I
am using the regular siri samanatha voice.
However, when I tried to duplicate the issue today, Voiceover pronounced the
words correctly.
So perhaps Apple fixed the issue? Is anyone else still encountering this
mispronunciation today?

Hi, I just sent the below to apple accessibility. Curious if any of you have
noticed it and if it’s fixed in IOS 15.

Since updating to IOS 14.8, I noticed a very strange mispronunciation. I first
saw it with reading an email from Southwest Airlines using VoiceOver. Then I
noticed it when reading a news story in Newsify where the article mentioned
South Carolina. This happens using Samantha and Samantha Enhanced and wit Siri
#1 and Siri #4. It did not occur when I switched to Alex.

Examples:
“South Carolina: - If I read by word, it reads correctly. If I read by line
or continuous reading, it just says something like “Saw ja tee” and won’t even
say “Carolina”. If I ask Siri for the capital of S.C., she will mispronounce
“South” the same way, but will say “Carolina”.

South Pacific: VoiceOver will mispronounce “South” as above, but will
correctly say Pacific when reading by line or continuously

When I type “Southwest”,, it is reading it correctly, but was not reading it
correctly on the header for my email from Southwest Airlines. It sounds like it
is saying “saw ja tee west”.

This could be fixed in IOS 15, but I haven’t upgraded yet, having heard about a
VoiceOver bug in the App switcher.

I just installed Samantha Enhanced on my 13 pro and read the samples with no
pronunciation issues.
I normally use Tom Enhanced and had no issues with that voice either.
This is on iOS 15.

Subject: new mispronunciation in 14.8; is it fixed in 15?
