Re: The new youtube app
Hi, no you cannot remove stock apps which come pre-loaded with iOS. The best thing you can do is move them to a folder. For example, I have one called unused and this is where I put apps which come with the phone but which I don't use. I then move that folder to the very last page of my home screen layout. -- Raul A. HI. don't know. have been using youplayer lately. seems to be accessible. With the google app once the video starts playing, if you press home, then go back in to the app switcher you should be able to see all your controls. RE: New Youtube app from Google
If you're running iOS 6, you don't have it unless you downloaded it from the app store. I personally don't think it's any more accessible than the previous version, but that's ok since I like Youplayer anyway, and may try Mctube since people also say that one's good as well. Is Mctube laid out like YouPlayer? Or is it different? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Patti Johnson Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2012 5:30 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: New Youtube app from Google Oh, thanks; I think I have an app by that name, so is this different? Re: New Youtube app from Google
Are you running IOS 6 yet? This is an upgrade to the YouTube app that Google released for the iPhone and IOS 6 when Apple stopped including Google's YouTube app in IOS 6. This is also a new app for the iPad running IOS 6, which prior to this release didn't have it's own YouTube app. This is where I was confused earlier about the upgrade to the iPhone app. Sorry about that! If you're not running IOS 6 yet, then I don't think the app you have has been updated, but I'm not sure about that. I would think those updates would have to come from Apple, which since Apple pulled this app from IOS 6, I doubt this will happen. The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Hi all The Youtube app on my 4th gen Apple TV received an update a couple of days ago; it got quite a bit of coverage online - the main takeaway being that the old version was much better. One thing that wasn't mentioned however was that they appear to have implemented their own screen reader - E.G. if you open the app and navigate around, you'll hear the apps TTS talking as well as VO. My questions: Can someone with a 4th gen or 4K Apple TV test this for me? Does anyone know how to turn it off? It obviously isn't happening to sighted people so it must be something that I've enabled but I can't think what. Re: The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Hello Ben, Yes, I also get the TTS in addition to VoiceOver with the new YouTube app on the fourth generation Apple TV. From my testing of the app, it does not seem like one can disable the TTS; it seems like a setting that gets enabled when it detects that VoiceOver is on. I did notice though that the parts of the app are accessible with the TTS at least and I could disable VoiceOver after getting into the app. I am not sure what occurs when a video starts playing if those controls are still accessible when VoiceOver is disabled. RE: The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Isn't the Amazon Prime Video app doing the same thing? I find it curious why these companies/developers feel they need to make their apps accessible by including a self-voicing TTS when the Apple TV is perfectly accessible with Voiceover. I think we should let Apple Accessibility know about thios as well as of course Youtube. This would be like Microsoft starting Narrator on a Windows 10 PC in addition to Jaws with no option to turn it off.
Unfortunately, apples accessibility team will probably not do anything about this, since it is third-party apps. The best course of action is to contact google and or Verizon or Amazon. Hi. Itr is truely anoying that is for sure. One thing I will try is to disable voiceover and then start the app, then turn Vo on again to see if it works. CUrrently my ssmall son has the controls so interrupting the watching is not such a good idea. Well, will try it in abit. Kind regards, Jesper. Re: The new Youtube app on the Apple TV
Hi Unfortunately it still talks with VO off. I can't really just turn VO off every time I want to use it either as the inbuilt screen reader doesn't work with search. VoiceOver doesn't work with search either, so for me at least the apps a complete writeoff for now. Cheers, Ben. On 2/10/18, Jesper Holten wrote: > Hi. Itr is truely anoying that is for sure. The new Youtube App is Better than it may look
Hi, there's been a bit of Twitter chatter about this. If you first double tap the Guide button, you'll find that the settings and sign in buttons become accessible. Trying to share a vidio on facebook using te new youtube app
Hi, I am trying to share a link to facebook using the new youtube app. I go into the app, pick the vidio I want to share, press the more button which brings up the share to with all the choices. I double tap facebook and then I get a message saying that youtube moble is misconfigured for facebook and press ok to go back to the app without connecting to facebook. Otherwise it says it needs basic information and shows me as being logged in as my facebook account but when I press that it just brings up my news feed on facebook. So question is, how do I share links to youtube using the new youtube app and the facebook app. Jen -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Once I click share to facebook, what do I have to do next in order for the link to post successfully? Thanks.
