Is there some sort of program that remembers passwords, any good ideas? Thanks, Jed -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Re: saving passwords with the iphone
Keychain is built into iOS, and is encrypted. Just make sure it is enabled in your iCloud account and Safari will prompt you to save your credentials when you log into a website. Keychain can also automatically generate a secure password for each website. That being said password managers don’t always work for every website. If the website developer did a poor job of creating the site the password manager may not recognize the fields for your username and password and will not autofill the fields. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to fix that issue, except write to the developer and ask them to write better code. Jim Weiss jimweiss...@gmail.com “You have brains in your head. If you want to use a third party app just search the archives for Lastpass or OnePassword, there have been many discussions about such apps and the two I just mentioned seem popular and work on pretty much all platforms from iOS and Mac to Windows and Android. -Original Message- From: jedbar...@gmail.com On Behalf Of Jed Barton Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2018 7:28 AM To: viphone Subject: saving passwords with the iphone Hey guys, OK, so i have several websites that i go to and wanna save the password for each of them. Re: saving passwords with the iphone
One of my favorite programs for remembering passwords is one password. Also, when you go to a web site, you will be asked if you want to save your password to the keychain. If you answer yes, you can use password autofill to fill in the password. Re: saving passwords with the iphone
I'm a little late to the conversation, but wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth. I use the iCloud KeyChain on the iPhone for remembering passwords, but I also use 1Password very heavily. I do this because at times I need to know my password, because maybe I'm not in Safari for it to autofill my password in the form. Maybe I'm in another app and need to input my password. Or, maybe I'm at work and need to access one of several work systems that I need to log-in to. 1Password does a great job of letting you put passwords and account information in 1 place. If you get the in-app purchase, you can make notes and entries for a lot more things, like identities, credit cards, a separate Password category, and much more. 1Password is free and the in-app purchase is about $10. There are also 1Password subscriptions if you want to be able to access it on multiple platforms, but I haven't found a need for this yet. I recommend 1Password to students I work with for keeping track of those pesky passwords. RE: [EXTERNAL] Re: saving passwords with the iphone
Hi, Why do you guys still use iOS Keychain if 1Password is so good? I'm not challenging you, just curious about the benefits of juggling 2 password tools. I've always been confused about what the exact benefits are of either the in-app purchase of the 1password upgrade versus the subscription model. The monthly subscription price, though not very high, is enough to give me pause unless the benefit was clearly worth it.
