Re: subscribing to YouTube channels

2019-03-11 Thread Wayne Merritt
There are likely thousands of channels which are free, so if I were
subscribed to a channel which charged money, I could probably find
another 5, 10, or 20 channels of the same topic which were free. This
is like listening to podcasts; most are free but a few may charge
money to keep the content flowing and help pay costs for providing the
service. I speculate that if you were to subscribe to the YouTube Red
service, which is about $10 monthly, I think that part of that cost
goes to YouTube content creators and channels. YouTube Red lets you
stream even when the device is locked, play videos in the background,
get an ad-free experience, and other benefits.

Re: subscribing to YouTube channels

2019-03-08 Thread 'Starboy' via VIPhone

This is answer is extremely relative.
Some channels will demand you to pay in order to watch their videos,
while others won't, but you can become a member as they're calling the
new features.
By becoming a member, even though others (and you) don't need to pay for
watching the channel's videos, it means you'll have a monthly price to
pay to help the channel and its owner.

Subscribing to channels in YouTube is very easy. When listening/viewing a video, if you
swipe through to the title of the video, VoiceOver will say "Actions
available," after it reads the video's title and how many views it has gotten since
creation. to subscribe to a channel, flick up or down to Subscribe and do a 1 finger
double tap. You can also swipe right through the like and dislike buttons, and at some
point you may come to a subscribe button.
I haven't used this way in a while so may not have that quite right. I usually
find the video's title, flick up or down to subscribe, and double tap.
VoiceOver should tell you that you are now subscribed. To verify, swipe up or
down again and you should hear unsubscribe. When looking at a list of search
results, you may also find subscribe buttons after a channel's name. In this
case, double tap the name and you will be subscribed. I use the YouTube app at
least once a day, and rarely view videos on the computer anymore.

Good luck,
Wayne
