Go to the App Store; at the bottom, there are several tabs such as Search, and
at the very right bottom, there's one called Updates. Double-tap on that one,
and the apps that need updating will show up. Either double-tap on Update All,
or you can update one by one; flicking to the right, after the app needing
updates, you'll come across a button saying "Update, allowing you to update an
app at a time. Good luck!

updating an app in the app store

2013-11-07 Thread Pinky
Hi,

When I go into the app store and click on the update button I get a list of
apps and it tell me what the fixes are going to be for each app. Then there
is an open button for each app. So if I click the open button does that
update that app? Then when I go back to the list of updated apps and go
through the list again how do I tell if they are updated?

Thanks in advance

Re: updating an app in the app store

2013-11-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Sounds like you double tapped on the Purchased button. Does the header
on that page say Purchased? Do you have a button in the top left
corner that says Updates, back button. If so, double tap on that. You
should then have an update button next to each app that has an update to
be installed as well as an update all button near the top of the page.
Down that page, you'll see heading like Updated November 5 and the
list of apps that were updated on that day. This is how you can find
when an app was last updated.

You won't have the update buttons or the update all button if you have
automatic updates turned on though. In that case, the apps will be
updated automatically, and you'll just see the list of when your apps
were updates in the Updates page of the App Store.

Re: updating an app in the app store

2013-11-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Right, if you haven't double tapped the Purchased button then you'll see
the header Updates. If all of your apps are up to date, then you'll
just see sub headers with the date the apps in that section have been
updated. You won't have an update button next to apps that don't have an
update and you won't have an update all button if all of the apps are up
to date. You will have an open button next to those apps which are up to
date. Sorry my first message was a bit confusing. I didn't think enough
about the situation where all of your apps might already be up to date.

If there is an open button then it will do exactly that when you tap it, it
will open the app.

There will also be a badge icon on the app store which tells you if updates
are available, if you have 1 update, it will say App Store, 1 new item.

update that app? Then when I go back to the list of updated apps and go
through the list again how do I tell if they are updated?

Thanks in advance

Re: updating an app

2013-10-30 Thread Chris H
Ed the device should update all apps in the background if you set it
that way. If not go to the App Store double tap on updates tab and
either double tap on update button next to each app or update all button
to well update all apps listed.

RE: updating an app

2013-10-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Ed,

As others pointed out, you first have to check in Settings and iTunes and
App Stores whether you have Automatic Updates turned on.

If it is, then if an update is available it will download and install
automatically. If you go to the App Store and tap on the Updates tab at the
bottom right you have dates which are headings and under each date it will
show you apps which were updated that day.

I think a lot of people especially Voiceover users prefer to turn automatic
updating off because if you leave it on you might end up getting updates for
an app where accessibility was broken in an update and then it's only
possible to go back if you keep a copy of the previous app version on the
computer, you could then delete the updated app from the phone and resync
the previous version.

If you turn automatic updates off, the App Store icon should show a number,
e.g. 1 or 2 or whatever the number of updates is you have available. Then if
you swipe right after each app is a Download/install button.

Regards,

Sieghard

Re: updating an app

2013-10-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm sure it's not a big deal, but another reason to turn off automatic
updating is to control your battery usage. Instead of having an app
updated whenever, you can manually update your apps when you know you
have a power supply available.

Try closing the app store then relaunch the app store then go to
updates and try it again.

Hi Jen,

You will have to double tap on the app itself. If an update didn't download
this will restart the download instead of opening the app.
