RE: Voice control on the 6S
I did get it to work finally but afterwards my battery went down the toilet. I started at 100% at about 10:30 am and my phone died because of a low battery by about 12:30 during which time I didn’t make or receive a call or send or receive any text messages. The phone got quite warm as well. I’ll turn it off for a while and see if that helps or if this is a symptom of 13.1. Hearing a name on incoming calls
I have always assumed to hear someone's name on the caller ID when a call is received the caller had to be in your contacts. Yesterday while on a call another call came in and I heard the caller's name but they aren't in my contact list. How does this work? Thanks. RE: Apple getting cheap
I agree with you but I won't make excuses for them. If I can buy cables and chargers for $5 or so than they can surely get them for a lot less. This is simply a way for them to gouge more money from us. If they used any kind of standard cable like USB C it would be a somewhat different thing but the lightening connecter is their own and no one else's so they will make money from us when we buy them no matter where we get them. Yes they should include chargers. However they won't. Will I not buy Apple because of it? No. Apple has better accessibility then Android. That is what I will base my choice on. What has the better accessibility. That for now is Apple. Android is still about 50 to 40% behind Apple. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of lenron brown Sent: Thursday, April 15, 2021 3:18 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Apple getting cheap I say screw them it's just another way for them to be cheap. RE: accessible sprinkler timer
I recently purchased a Rachio 12 channel for $149.00 and I’m supposed to get a rebate from our water department bringing the cost down to $75. I can’t speak for how accessible the setup is because my lawn man did that as he has been on me to purchase one of these for two years. With the app on my iPhone I can monitor each channel, turn things on and off and see how long each channel runs and adjust that. What I have done so far is pretty accessible. One problem is that I think the smallest they make is an eight channel. Most of them claim to have features like integration with the forecast so they don't come on if it's raining, most say they work with google and Alexa and some include Apple Homekit but I'm almost equally certain there are differences in quality and useability. Guess I'll do some more reading on landscaping forums and such about which names are the ones to look for. It was pretty cool, it connected to Wi-Fi. There was a mode where you can set it to her you can put it on the schedule and based on the weather, if it detected rain, it would go on a delay. It would also go on a delay if there was frost coming up. The app used to be fairly accessible. I used to have this unit back in 2019. It cost me about $120 in the US. not sure if the app remains accessible with voiceover. It has been a while. Maybe others who have and use such devices can chime in, I am also interested in this as I just ordered a raised bed watering kit which should hopefully allow me to set up the first 3 of my 6 raised garden beds and if I am happy with the result I'll order another one of these for the other 3 and one more for my raised flower boxes in front of the house. I would at that point also be interested in adding an automated and connected controller and while my two lawn areas in front and behind the house don't have any built-in sprinkler system, I want to also look at that. They are only relatively small areas of lawn of maybe 1,000 square feet each so I would probably try and install it myself.
