[virt-tools-list] [PATCH v2 virt-viewer 1/2] Fix spice includes

2016-03-22 Thread Eduardo Lima (Etrunko)
Spice release version 0.31 requires that only spice-client.h or
spice-client-gtk.h should be included directly. As a result,
compilation is now throwing warnings like:

warning: #warning "Only can be included directly" [-Wcpp]
warning: #warning "Only can be included directly" [-Wcpp]

This patch also bumps spice version requirement to 0.31, to ensure
those files are available.

Forgot to add that about RHEL6, it does not matter anyway, as
virt-viewer dropped Gtk+ 2.0 support recently.

About line being to long it is easily fixed by breaking the line. This
patch is only here because when I reviewed the original patch, it wal
already merged.

About calling AC_SUBST for _LIBS, only _CFLAGS varible is touched, so it
is only required for the latter. I will provide more details in the
commit message.

No idea if/how wake-on-lan works with qemu, but googling pointed me at this:
https://github.com/simoncadman/libvirt-wakeonlan

If you're just doing this as a one off, you could have VM1 SSH to the host and
virsh start VM2 :)

2016-03-22 Thread Pavel Grunt
Hi,

imo with the change the line is too long

About the AC_SUBST calls - iirc they are defined automatically when
pkg-config is >= 0.24 (not the case of rhel6).
Or is it about something else (why just _LIBS and not _CFLAGS) ?

Thanks,
Pavel

2016-03-22 Thread Pavel Grunt
Hi,

you need to bump spice-gtk dependency to v0.31, because these headers
are not in v0.30 and virt-viewer currently depends on v0.30.

Ack with the change

Thanks,
Pavel

AFAIK, there's been no work to port it to OS-X. Virt-manager is written in
python, and libvirt clients build for OS-X, so in theory it is possible, but
in practice I've no idea what dragons might lurk there. I imagine it would
be easier than a Win32 port, but that's not saying much...

I've copied the virt-manager mailing list since that's a better place for
this kind of question

FWIW, I haven't done any work on virt-manager for a good 5 years now, Cole
Robinson leads the development, so while I'm happy to receive compliments
for creating it, Cole and other recent community contributors deserve most
of the credit
