Help with Windows XP

I have installed the server on my system and the viewer on a friends computer.
she has my ip number but we get an error unable to connect. when i went in 
to viewer on my system it asked me for the password which i put in and i 
connected to my own system.. can anyone tell me what we are doing wrong?

If you are using windows xp with service pack 2 installed you need to
configure your firewall to allow for vnc.

This should help you out.
Windows XP sp2 installs and enables a firewall.  you need to make
exceptions for it using this tool.  When these instructions tell you
to browse to the program you need to locate winvnc4.exe (default
folder: C:\Program Files\RealVNC\VNC4\winvnc4.exe

  1. Click Start, click Run, type wscui.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Click Windows Firewall.
  3. In the Windows Firewall dialog box, click the Exceptions tab,
and then click Add Program.
  4. In the Add a Program dialog box, either select the program from
the list that appears, or click Browse to locate your program.

 If you cannot locate your program, see the next section.
  5. After you select your program, click OK.
  6. On the Exceptions tab, make sure that the check box next to your
program is selected, and then click OK.

 Note If you later decide that you do not want the program to be
an exception, clear this check box.

help with windows xp as client and win 98 as host

Hi
i have just now installed vnc and it is a great
program, i used to use remote desktop sharing in
windows xp, but since i had to a access a win 98
computer i installed this, i had no problem connecting
between 2 comp running winxp, but could connect to one
running win 98, it is connected through a university
cable system and i had problems getting the correct ip
address, so i kept my viewer on listening mode and
asked my friend running win 98 to add me as client, it
worked and i got connected but within 3 seconds my
computer got restarted, i tried this 3 times and every
time after get connected it gets restarted, did any of
you face this problem,any help regarding this will be
appreciated.
