[volt-nuts] Datron 1281 Repair Help ADC Key A to D Converter Calibration

2014-07-26 Thread starbook

When I use the SPCL Menu ADC Key I obtain the following error
A to D CORRN, Error 2008.
No other errors are listed.
What does this indicate?

After the ADC Cal I obtain the following readings with a constant voltage.
Resolution:
8 digit 10.000 106 7
7 digit 10.000 107
6 digit 10.000 28
5 digit 09.999 9
4 digit 10.000
Thanks,
John

Re: [volt-nuts] Matched resistors

2014-07-26 Thread Randy Evans
I would like to thank all those you supplied ideas for matching resistors.
I have decided to test three approaches for now, the first is using Vishay
vhd200 hermetically sealed foil resistors (three each at around $26 each),
the second is using LTC5400 resistor arrays, the third is a hybrid approach
using a Vishay vhd200 for the most critical resistor pair and LTC5400
resistor arrays for the other two, and the fourth will likely be a LTC1043
switch capacitor doubler plus LTC5400s, although the latter is a lower
priority.

I plan on characterizing them over time and temperature to see the effects
on output stability for the best approach considering cost, complexity, and
accuracy. Should be interesting if it works. It's been taking longer than
I wanted or hoped but there are only so many hours in the day and my day
job is interfering with my play time.

Thanks for the help,

Randy

Re: [volt-nuts] 7071 noisy?

2014-07-26 Thread Jean-Louis Noel

Hi Mickle,

From: "Михаил (Mickle)"

My old measurements (7.5-digits, short, 5-10 minutes):
0.1 V = 0.2 uV
10 V = 5 uV

1) Improper settings of the PLL's nominal frequency (see page 9.5 of the
Service

Manual).
2) Noisy 1N829 Zener.
3) Noisy IC201 (swap to LTC1052 solves this problem forever).
4) Noisy Input Amplifier.

JLN> 0.2µV for 0.1V scale
JLN> 0.4µV for 1V scale
JLN> 8µV for 10V scale

So, mine seems a bit noisy!
I asked that question because if you press "DIG FILT"
it displays to the 10th of fV a bit useless if the short term stability is
not better than 0.2µV!

The web site relating your modification of the Solartron is of line.
I can provide you with a web space if you wish.

Have a good day.

Bye,
Jean-Louis
