At first glance this did not really help. But on one of the
pages I found what I was looking for. Kexec is the command
I wanted.

ksplice and kexec are both ways to replace one running kernel with
another running kernel without a full reboot and with continuous uptime.

ksplice is older and has now been emborged by Oracle, Inc. -- which,
come to think of it, may have inspired the development of kexec as an
alternative approach.
