We recently decided to remove CentOS from our CI/CD due to lack of interested parties to maintain CentOS support so things may be broken. > Do I need to compile and run code on the same flavour of OS? In theory no, but your life will likely be easier if you do so…. — Damjan -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [Edited Message Follows] Thanks, I am trying to understand the dependencies of VPP are based on the OS kernel/Linux flavors (Centos, Redhat, Ubuntu). What version of Linux kernel it can run. Downloading and Installing VPP — The Vector Packet Processor 20.01 documentation (fd.io), ( https://fd.io/docs/vpp/master/gettingstarted/installing/index.html ) The above link talks about version 7 of CentOS. No documentation about Ubuntu and other Linux flavors. If there are dependencies on Linux Kernel what are they? Can I compile the VPP code on CentOS and run the code on RedHat. Do I need to compile and run code on the same flavour of OS? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Assuming that you have all dependencies installed on your system, you should be able to compile vpp. Worst case you can invoke cmake directly or just use experimental ./configure script — Damjan -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. [vpp-dev] VPP on different Linux Platforms
Hi, Currently, the VPP code can be compiled only on RedHat, CentOS, and Ubuntu. Can I compile the VPP code on other OS Linux flavors, I see it's hardcoded in the makefile. I am trying to understand by changing the Makefile VPP code can be compiled on other Linux platforms or is there any specific Linux flavors dependency. Thanks, Satish Amara. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
