[RE:] Re: [Vserver] Linux Vserver - Feature Question
Thank you for your fast answers. I/O Limit for virtual machines. E.g. when you do a gzip job in a virtual machine, the I/O Load and cpu Load will be quite high. To limit the cpu load is implemented i know, but the i/o load? in detail: - maximum write/read speed of a common sata disc 60/60 MB/s - all of the vservers are installed on that disc would it be possilble to limit write/read speed for single vservers to split the speed of the disc? For vservers with many copy, gzip or in special backup jobs it would be quite usefull. Re: [Vserver] Linux-Vserver Networking Question
Hi Tom, Q3: Linux-vserver and linux 2.6. Is there a roadmap for getting it stable? Are there still many bugs in it or is 2.6 nearly production ready? I have 3 Maschines up and running in production with vserver on Gentoo with 2.6.9 - no probs until now I setup a test box with 2.6.11 which runs fine in the test until now... [Vserver] More vserver oddness questions
On a slightly separate note, can someone answer me the following queries/oddities I am experiencing. I have /etc/vserver.conf (and /usr/local/etc/vserver.conf) - both of these files specify the VS root dir as being /local/vservers, yet when I user vserver build, it insists on trying to put the new server inside /vservers. It seems to ignore the config file entirely, why is this? Even when I "fool" the system by symlinking /vservers to /local/vservers, when I create the vserver, the build process seems to install data into /local/vservers/ but ALSO /usr/local/etc/vservers/.defaults/vdirbase/ - and it is this second location which the build process tries to chroot - is this second location just a copy of the "proper" location used only when setting up the vserver? I ask because it is exactly the same size as the copy in /local/vservers - and of course my /usr partition doesn't have anywhere near the disk capacity of /local, so this duplication concerns me. Again, sorry for basic questions to list, these are only "issues" I am discovering since going to a hand-built 2.6 kernel and development version of vservers ;-) On that question, roughly how close are we to having a "stable" release for 2.6 kernels suitable for production environments (which is ultimately where I intend to run these vservers!!) Is this likely something to do with GRSec? I haven't done anything with GRSec yet apart from enable a load of the options in the kernel.
