I'd say vserver unrelated. I bet each sunday morning between 5 and 7 your logrotation kicks in, and apache doesn't reload cleanly -- Debian unsolved bug for years; quickfix is a killall -9 apache2 then apache2ctl start in the logrotation script. Re: [Vserver] vmware-player on host
are you sure you have successfully rebuilt your vmmon/vmnet modules? yep, I re-emerge vmware-player after patch the kernel with Linux-VServer patch. running vmware-config.pl doesn't resolve the problem. Are you sure everything works as planned there? I'm successfully running vmware server on a vserver-patched host. I needed the vmware any-to-any patch though, to get the vm* modules to compile (vmware are doing a really bad job at keeping up with kernel development ;) Tom ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver

Re: [Vserver] vmware in vserver?
You might be spinning your wheels on that - many win-apps will detect vmware and refuse to run - even Windows virus applications will usually detect vmware and go into hiding. Going way off-topic here, but I've never ever had any windows app refuse to run because it was running inside a vmware instance. Re: [Vserver] HOWTO deal with NAT'ing firewalls and source-based routing with vservers
given address Then the source address of the packets are translated as it should! So forget about MASQUERADE. But now I hear you cry: But then I have to change the SNAT rule every time eth0 changes address!. No I fixed that: * Install ISC DHCP Client 3.x (on debian do: # apt-get install dhcp3-client). * Download the tarball, http://wheezy.homelinux.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/dhclient-scripts.tar.gz?view=tar, and install it (instructions are in the scripts). Basically this packages provides a small perl script, which is called by the DHCP client, and it is setting a SNAT rule according to the IP address that the DHCP client got. It also removes the rule, if the interface is shutdown, and it updates the rule, if the interface changes address. If you don't want to use ISC DHCP Client 3.x but for instance ISC DHCP Client 2.x, then you have to find a way to have the dhcp client call snatman.pl with the correct parameters. Configuring the source-based routing automatically on debian. This reduces the problems of having to have staff on-site selecting the kernel at boot time. If it panics, we tell them to just hit the reset button and it'll come back up on the old kernel. ~From memory the option is the '-R' command line switch. (And typical, now I go look for it, it's on that Fedora machine!) Yep, -R. Very useful, particularly with the panic= kernel commandline option... e.g. panic=30 waits 30 seconds then reboots automatically. [Vserver] Bugreport: Hang when starting vserver in the background
Hi, A few days ago I started a vserver with vserver name start, as I wanted to do other stuff while it was starting. However, it didn't come up...
