Re: uplink?

2002-05-26 Thread Reg Whitely

Malcolm

I have a hub in each classroom and each is connected to ethernet
connection to a main hub in the library via the uplink ports. There
is a switch on the back of the hub which will actually disable this,
and occasionally when there seems to be no network connection, eg to
internet which is provided by AirPort Base Station plugged into main
hub, or to iMacs in other rooms, I find someone has accidently
switched connection off. (Me, the kids, the cleaner, or mice in the
room playing merry hell at 2 am in the morning when we're all at home
in bed perhaps?)

Reg

Hi wamuggers, could somebody tell me what is the difference between
ordinary socket and 'uplink' on a Hub please. Is it not crossed-over?

Re: ADSL requirements

2002-05-26 Thread David Choy
Hi,
While not exactly ADSL, we run a 7500(running OS 9) on a cable modem using
[EMAIL PROTECTED] in Melbourne. It works, but naturally a g3 would be heaps
better.
The problem is largely with slow screen redraws and pages take longer to
load than the PIII 450mhz we also have attached. However, still *much*
better than a dial-up 56k modem!

Regards,
Dave
