I don't know about Acrobat, but the AppleWorks problem is apparently
well-known. A possible workaround until the problem is fixed is to save
your AppleWorks print job as a PDF and print it from Preview; and use
Preview instead of Acrobat for printing other PDFs as well.

According to folks on the VersionTracker GimpPrint forum, you need to
install GhostScript in addition to GimpPrint in order to print from
AppleWorks or Acrobat.

CSW 2500 Problems

2002-12-10 Thread Rod Lavington

Hi All!

Just a quickie for today! Does anyone know why a Colour Stylewriter
2500 would just keep printing 3-colour and black bands across the
page? No text, even on the test page it does the same thing. Juts
solid bars in the rough size of the image or text.

The printer has brand new cartridges, and the EEPROM has been reset.

Any ideas?

Your options are
* Get an inverter (preferably sinewave) to turn the 12VDC into 240V
into which you can then plug your iBook's adapter. You should be able
to pick up inverters at numerous places like Jaycar, Altronics, etc.
Just make sure it'll supply enough power to work with your iBook.
This has the advantage that if you ever need to run other 240V
appliances in the car you can do so (well, ones with low current draw
:)

* Get an adaptor for the iBook. You can purchase these from

Malcolm
This topic was just discussed on another list.
Here are 2 of the suggestions.

I use a 150watt inverter from Dick Smith, works great while travelling
etc... about $100 and can use it for everything else

You could go to your local parts car dealer where they have units that
convert 12v DC to 240 AC from around $80+. The current should be enough to
run/charge a PowerBook as well as run other devices like fluro lights, small
TVs etc. You can use it to charge your video camera / dig camera. It won't
run a fridge or bar heater!

Re: Remote Access/ADSL

Just a quickie

Am I right in assuming that an ADSL connection bypasses Remote Access? does
it still need RA for the PPP connection?
If not, why is it still blinking at the top left of screen when I am
connected via ADSL. Should I ditch RA?

I am using Enternet 1.2.5 as the dial-up, with a line filter and ethernet
cable between ADSL modem and G4. G4/400/448/OS9.2.

Please put my mind at rest.
Thanks

Changing default display arrangement

2002-12-10 Thread Matt Huitson

Hi all,

I often attach a second monitor to my Pismo (OSX 10.2.2) and prefer to
have the extra monitor to the left of my powerbook screen. The default
arrangement setting in the display prefs always places the monitor on
the right. If I switch back to using just the one screen for a period,
then reconnect the second monitor, my preference for leftness isn't
stored. It is becoming annoying having to manually change my display
arrangement each time I switch between single and dual screens. Anyone
come across a hint which indicates how to permanently modify the
default arrangement setting?

Regards, Matt
