Outlook Express - archiving

2003-02-27 Thread bill parker
Is there is way of saving the entire contents of an Outlook Express folder
(or subfolder)? Every quarter I need to archive all the input of one
folder and store this off my HD. I then start a new sub folder with the
next number in a sequence and then ultimately save that and so on.

At the moment the only way I can find to do it is to save each email as a
text file.

Re: Seagate HD

2003-02-27 Thread Keith Palmer, Zytech
Hi Chris

Yes the 8MB is cache and the SATA refers to serial ATA.

There is no support for serial ATA on a Mac as yet, we've been looking
at a couple of PC PCI cards but I haven't as yet started hunting down
any of the Mac rumour sites about Mac support as yet. The word from
Apple has been "probably".

When I hook my Fuji Finepix 2400 camera up to my G4 it mounts the SmartMedia
card on the desktop as a disk. I can copy files from the SmartMedia card to
my hard drive and even delete them directly from the card with no problem.
I've also gone the other way to share pictures. All I had to do was make
sure the files were named using the same convention the camera used and I
could even see the pictures using the controls on the camera. I've
transferred pictures to the camera for storage without using the naming
convention the camera uses and even though the files can be seen when the
card is mounted on the desktop the camera can't see them.

Doesn't that keep it fresher? Or is that only if you store it at the

OSX & Eudora question.

2003-02-27 Thread Mark Secker
Does anybody know a way of stopping Eudora 5.1.1 for OSX coming to
the foreground each time it checks mail?
I have disabled the "open mailboxes (with new mail)" and this stops
it from splattering the foreground with open mailboxes which it did
even to it's self so that you'd be halfway through typing an e-mail
and it would over display the message your composing with the new
mail's mailboxes
but what ever the application it's self still comes to the foreground
as soon as it checks mail

IT work experience wanted

2003-02-27 Thread Larry Pohl
Hi all

I have a young client who is interested in getting some work experience in the
IT industry, particularly the hardware/networking side. He's 22 years old and
has partially completed the TAFE Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering. He is
planning to re-enrol in July and is looking for something useful to do while he
is waiting for the next intake.

Ideally, I'd like to help him out with a traineeship and/or a job in the
industry. I'm in a position to help arrange something along these lines
including generous wage subsides and so on.

If anyone is interested, please contact me off list at:

I've just sold (and installed) an HP 2500L Colour Laser Printer for
someone - very impressive machine. Running in a Windows 2000 network,
which includes a lonely eMac running MacOS X 10.2.3.

The only downside has been the amazingly inept installer for MacOS. It
purportedly installs over 400 files, and there are no clues as to
where they go. Certainly, Print Center isn't aware of them, nor, for
that matter, is Chooser in Classic. So far, an email to HP support has
not elicited any response (BTW - if anyone out there has had any
experience with getting this stuff to work I'd love to hear from
them...).

However, it does work very well with Samba networking and Gimp Print.
This is not difficult to set up, and is probably necessary anyway if
you're in a mixed environment. The printer itself produces excellent
results, and is pretty good value at around $2500 RRP. The 2500L is the
cheapest. For another $500 you can get the 2500 with an extra paper
tray, and the 2500N at around $3700 has an ethernet port thrown in. All
models include PostScript.
