Re: Help. e-Record vers. 3.0

2003-07-05 Thread Severin Crisp
Yes, I have had similar difficulties and I am waiting to ring the ATO
help line on Monday. It is also not clear how you use this as an
upgrade so you can access all your old records. I find the file
keeping system on these ATO programs quite mystifying and there are
always hassles with upgrades.
Having said that, once they are sorted out, I find that Informed
(eRecord), ATO ECI Client (for GST lodging) and etax for personal tax
all work fine. Ato ECI Client runs under Classic and for etax you
need Virtual PC but the new e-Record is for OSX and certainly dots
files around in the Documents folder and elsewhere where it should.
It is just a matter of push and shove and we will get there. At
least on a Mac you have some idea of what is happening, pity the poor
PC user who probably has to pay for someone to install it and make it
go!

Hello.
I have down loaded the latest GST tax program,
e-Record vers. 3.0
made for Sys 10.
I get an error message after trying to save the Business details.
Same problem if I do the Sys 9 version.
I believe there is a bug but I would like to know if anyone using sys
10 has had the same problem or has no problems before I complain to the
Aust. Tax Office.

Network OSX10.2 - Window Me

2003-07-05 Thread Mervyn Giuliana Bond
I have be trying to link my iMac running OSX10.2 to a laptop running
Windows Me using a crossover ethernet cable and have come to the
conclusion that the highly promoted simple connectivity of OSX 10.2
only works if one is connecting to a PC that is running on XP. Is
this conclusion accurate?

If so, can I use the cross-over ethernet cable configuration to link
to the Window Me laptop in some way that doesn't involve using the
internet or a significant outlay on new software?

Suggestions please.

Merv

I have Mac with 10.2 connecting ok with Windows 98 via ethernet so
you should be able to do it with out any problems.

Not knowing what your configurations are on each Machine it is hard
to answer why you can't get it to work.

Are you familiar with what basic configurations are required for
your Windows machine, if not I could dig up some details and send
them to you. From memory the Help section on your Mac gives some
details of how to go about it.
