It's not on Apple's list of devices that iSync supports; and unless things
have changed a lot since I was looking at phones, opinion is that it isn't
supported at all.

But you can establish an internet connection through the phone and so on --
just no synching of things (which is an incredible feature when it works!).

Far be it from me to rush to the aid of IInet in any way but the fridge
analogy could be closer to the mark than at first suspected :-)

The helpdesk guy could have been referring to Earth Leakage which can do
strange things to your phone line and your power supply

But NOT with an Earth leakage Residual current device in your house.
All new houses are supposed to have them and smart people in older houses
Get them installed.

You get Earth Leakage you have NO power, the protector disconnects it until
you fix it.

I know Xmas eve with full fridge and wire contacts earth in the fridge
cabinet.. All power points off !

That's quite a possibility for any fridge because they have heater wires
( Yes ! I did say heater wires ) to defrost various parts of the cabinet.
These wires occasionally get a git of moisture through the insulation and
corrode away. If you have a big block of ice that develops regularly in a
corner of your fridge the chances are that your fridge's heater wire is open
circuit.

Have fun

Very interesting. I am another one of those who has nearly always
had trouble with iinet. I think it got going after the wantree take
over. But here's another weird experience - connected?

I have a 1kW PV array that supplies the electricity to the house via
a TRACE inverter during the day. That has never worked entirley free
of trouble ( a bit like iinet) Trouble is Trace are in Seattle and
they aren't sure where Australia is. In summer, the system works
reasonably well. As soon as it rains, the darn thing runs on at
night when its not supposed to, consuming electricity. Before last
winter started, I had reason to worry about the earth link of the
house, situated way away from the water taps. ( the house is 5 years
old)

I watered the link for a day. Bingo. Inverter problem came back
next night. NO ONE knows why.

I've found that the Autostart is a simple text document, but must point

Re: Fwd: 6310i Bluetooth

2003-09-12 Thread Mark Heeler

Caught between the devil and the less attractive options aren't we ?

I have a BMW with a factory Bluetooth phone kit. New car came with a
6310i which works so well it hurts (to think of using any other car
solution). Pity the Apple connection isn't the same !

Some of the new phones such as the SE T800 which are Apple happy don't
work with the BMW. Even other Nokia's don't work properly. So, although
I would like a nicer phone, I am stuck with the 6310i for a while.

Mind you seeing the phone car integration is worth it. The car pairs with
the phone upon startup (while in your pocket) and transfers the phone book
to the car. You select names from the address book via the in dash monitor
or the LED display under the speedo (with steering wheel buttons).

When the phone rings the stereo mutes, and monitor shows Caller ID or the
name from the address book. There is a place to put the phone to charge
it (and get better reception with the aerials) if you remember to take
it out of your pocket. Bluetooth in this setting is great.

The comments field in the Finder's Get Info window in OS X should
contain the same notes as under OS 9 (I have not verified this as I
don't have any files I can definitely say I downloaded under OS 9)

This URL is put into the comments field by the browser you use to
dowload the file. I think IE used to do it under Mac OS 9, but it no
longer seems to do so under OS X. Safari doesn't either. You could
perhaps request the feature of Apple.

I notice the top end dual processor machine still has a build time of

Are people (who pre-ordered the G5) taking delivery yet?

And any rumors as to when / if David Jones and Harris Technologies

I know Joondalup had their G5 there today with more expected soon. The

I'd still think that it will be at least a week or 2 (maybe 3) before they
start getting quantities around Australia.

And no I can't comment on David Jones and Harris Technologies,...I don't
know any rumours I'm afraid.

If you're after something I'd still pre order it unless you want to have a

certainly source something if you're after it.
