MS Access

2004-05-25 Thread Andrew Schox
Greetings,

Is there anything on the Mac which will directly import MS Access files
(.mdb, specifically from MS Access 97)? I have found myself in the position
of having to receive a few of these on a three monthly basis, and put their
contents into another database.

I guess that I could set up a PC and OBDC the info from a Mac, but this
would be Plan B.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Doug,

I am not sure if this was intentional or why I found it funny, but I
burst out laughing when I saw it. I am sure the other geeks on this
list will have a bit of a laugh as well.

Thanks anyway for doing it for me.

 Hi all

Thanks to those who responded to my message about the curious internet
dropouts my Mac has been suffering lately. I have quite by accident
discovered that the problem seems to be caused by my Favourites being
corrupted - not sure why - or how to fix it. When I enter a URL
 manually it
works fine! Guess I'll have to clean out the favourites and start
 again

Thanks for the suggestion Bob - but no joy. The URL gets to a certain point
during loading from favourites before the spinning beach ball kicks in.

Any other thoughts anyone?

burning sessions?

2004-05-25 Thread Stewart Woods

Hey all,

Quick question.

A friend (and recent mac convert) just called to ask me if it's
possible to burn just a session with disc burner (and not the whole
disc)
I use Toast and I know that does - I don't have a blank CD handy so can
anyone tell me if/how this is possible?

cheers,

Stew

Software Update

2004-05-25 Thread logrythm

Hi all

Recently I ran Software Update to see if the latest security update was
available. It wasnt.

Taking someones advice, I went to the apple site to download and
install it. It installed successfully and later tested ok.

However at the end of the install, Software Update launched and now in
fact had the update listed which I had just installed. Not good I
thought.

I restarted to try and clear it; no go.

So I steeled myself and proceeded with the automatic update to try and
clear it. Oops, it's now listed *twice* under Installed Updates.

Did anyone else manually install this update?

I think it'll probably be ok but if someone knows how to straighten it
out I'd be happier.
I wouldnt normally be so keen to update but this had you lot all
spooked so I jumped ;)

Thankyou

Paul

Hi Dear WAMUG'ers,

Many thanks to Shay for his suggestion and Daniel for offering to help me. I
eventually downloaded the DiskWarrior update v3.0.2, and I must say that
Alsoft did a very good job with their installer. It created and burnt a new
bootable disk after reading my original V3.0.1, and presto! I now can boot
the G5 beast without any problem.

My faith in Alsoft has been restored and my computer is now back on track
with its newly rebuilt directory, and I get to keep a newly burnt CD of
V3.0.2.

Merçi to all,

Philippe C

PS I'm sorry I did not check your previous posting Shay. Shame on me!
