A job in Japan

2004-06-12 Thread Brad Helden
I can't remember who, but I'm sure someone on the WAMUG mailing list
once asked me about work in this field in Japan so I'm posting it
hoping that he or she sees it. (by the way, that money is quite a
nice drop!)

Company: NumeriX Japan Co., Ltd
Position: Quantitative Developer
Location: Chiyoda-ku
Salary: JPY 8,000,000/year, Negotiable
For complete information:

Cheers,
Brad

Psion Revo Epoc Spell and Thesaurus Software (OT?)

2004-06-12 Thread Reg Whitely

Hello Fellow WAMUGgers

We bought mother in law a lovely little Psion Revo Plus Handheld
computer especially so she could solve crossword and word sleuth
puzzles. Now some dumb bunny has deleted the app from the computer
and lost the system disk. Not mil.

 (Win install only!:-( ))

Can someone help please with a source for original system disk or for
the specific app needed?

Quoted from: http://www.ericlindsay.com/epoc/bspell5.htm

Psion Epoc Spell and Thesaurus

The best miniature spelling checker on the planet

Spelling checker and thesaurus application in Psion Epoc.

The spelling checker is a Lernout and Hauspie product licenced by
Psion. It includes the spelling checker for files or sections of files.
Amusingly it doesn't know about Psion (or Epoc), and suggests poison as
a spelling. Unfortunately, the spelling checker does not include
definitions (no room in the ROM).

how do wirelss hot spots work?

2004-06-12 Thread Edward Arrowsmith
According to the Apple web site:
Now built into every configuration of the new PowerBook G4 family:
fast AirPort Extreme technology. Based on the 802.11g standard,
AirPort Extreme delivers — at 54Mbps — the fastest wireless
connection available. And with thousands of wireless “hot spots” in
hotels, airport lounges, coffee shops and bookstores around the
world, you’ll be able to use your PowerBook G4 to get online from
practically anywhere.

Does this mean you can just take your PowerBook to a cafe and an go
online at no expense?
That you can walk in to a hotel and go online without plugging in to
anything?

How does this work? Like a mobile phone where you can make a call
from wherever ... as long as you are within range of a cell?

Thanks for assistance.

Best wishes
