iTunes Music Store To Open In Australia In Next Few Weeks?
From www.appleinsider.com By AppleInsider Staff Published: 10:00 AM EST An overseas report indicates that Apple is primed to debut its iTunes Music Store in the land of Oz. Citing music industry sources, a recent report in the Australian Financial Review confidently claims that Apple will launch its long-awaited iTunes Music Store in Australia in the next few weeks. While most of the negotiations for the Australian version of the iTunes service have been conducted through the global parents of the Australian music labels, meaning that the date of an Australian launch has been a well-guarded secret, record companies that are based in Australia are said to have finished negotiations with Apple over pricing and terms and are now readying to launch the service. According to the report, the localized version of the store might sell music tracks for as little as 99¢ a track, Australian. This is far cheaper than the US store, which sells music for US99¢ ($1.35) per track, and below the break-even point in Australia, said to be $1.45 per track. The accuracy of the report remains unknown, though if true, Apple would be in a position to unveil the music store alongside its new wave of European iTunes music stores, which are set to launch at a special music event on Oct. 26th. rmkay
Re: iTunes Music Store To Open In Australia In Next Few Weeks?
Some months ago I heard from a music industry insider (no names but not currently Oz based) that due to the small market size certain independent labels were (as with Europe) pushing for higher returns per song than in the US so they might not be signed off by the time it comes on line as such I guess the 99c Aud will probably be for top 40 and classic hits tracks.. cheap chisel and britany I'm excited. ow well it will at the very least be a big step in the right direction From www.appleinsider.com By AppleInsider Staff Published: 10:00 AM EST An overseas report indicates that Apple is primed to debut its iTunes Music Store in the land of Oz. I'm tired of buying albums with one or two good songs and the rest fillers. Or not being able to buy older stuff that has gone out of print. I hope a lot of back catalogues appear at some point, even if it is Cheap Chisel or Britany :-) Its a start! (BTW, I'm not a Britany fan either :-P ) Seeya Rod!

as such I guess the 99c Aud will probably be for top 40 and classic hits tracks.. cheap chisel and britany I'm excited. Probably you'll find that the more stuff you like and buy the more likely they are to 'stock' the store with similar things. Wireless Access At UWA Libraries For General Public
Anyone know if the general public has wireless access to the UWA library catalogues? If so could you point me to the correct configuration pages? I suspect it may be limited to students and staff ... but you never know. I've just obtained special borrowing privileges (as a non-student) and would like to search the catalogue in the Reid Library from my iBook if possible ... rather than queuing for a terminal. rmkay

Not that I know of; I think only UWA students and staff have access to SNAP. You can search the catalogue from home here: http://www.library.uwa.edu.au/index.html but IME you very, very rarely have to queue for the old text-only terminals, just for the full CygNet workstations. If all the ones in the main ground floor area are taken, try going up a floor or two. Lara

Lara I was always found the floor with the Econs library (2nd I think) was always good for getting on to a terminal. As Lara has pointed out, search from home and take your list in (on paper or pda). Much quicker, and much less chance of your iBook being pinched :-) Seeya Rod!
New JBL speakers for iPod!
Hi All! Come across these cool looking speakers: http://www.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.asp?ProdId=ONSTAGE They work with all iPods and mini iPods, but do not charge without a dock adapter. From what I can gather they will be $299 and only available from Apple Resellers. I'd say we will be seeing them on the shelves by late November/early December, so placing an order early with your reseller would be advisable! Seeya Rod!

I've just done a flip through my fine collection of 33.3LPs (how do you do a third in Apple Mail 1/3?) What about these gems: BeeGees 1st including such gems a I Can't See Nobody and NY Mining Disaster 1941 The Spencer Davis Group... their first LP with My Babe and I'm Blue (whth harmony bedobedoobedoobedoobiedoobedo by Little Millie) Procul Harum with the absolutely fabulous Conquistador and Mabel (Mabel, Mabel, lying on the kitchen table) footnoted To be listened to in the spirit in which it was made Son of Schmilsson (Harry Nilsson) with Remember and the classic I'd Rather be Dead (than wet my bed) and finally, in this installment Troggs - Live at Max's Kansas City with the one and only Wild Thing and Love is All Around - and one called Walking the Dog!! So will iTunes offer all this great stuff for you to download too, or should I start burning it onto CD with one of the school's eMacs (with audio in jack?) Happy reminiscing maybe, older Wamuggers? Re: download training videos
Gary, There is a link under the video window which says right click to download. Try that and choose save as. The downloaded file will open in Quicktime. Is that what you need?
