Trouble installing WinXP into Virtual PC 7

2006-02-25 Thread Reg Whitely

Hi WAMUGgers

I'm trying to install Win XP Pro into Virtual PC 7.0.1 on my
PowerBook G4 1.67 with 1GHz RAM and 100Gb HDD running OS X 10.4.5.
It has sat on Installing Windows/Installing Devices for 10 hours now,
with the message Setup will complete in approximately: 33 minutes.

I've tried Shutting Down the PC (in PC Menu), saving the partly
installed PC image state. VPC recognises this as a partially
installed state, reloads and resumes installing.
ie the green flashing installation dots continue moving, but it stays
at 33 minutes.

How long is a minute in Windows?

What am I doing wrong?

Should I delete the image and start again?

The VPC 7 disk is one supplied through the WA DET Microsoft
Enterprise Agreement and WinXP comes from the school's Microsoft
Technology in Schools CD Kit 2002.

Many thanks

Reg

Hi Reg

I dont think you've done anything particularly wrong.
Based on what you have said I would probably begin again.
It may also pay to check if there could be any issues between VPC 7.0.1
and OSX 10.4.5.

It does sound like a familiar scenario however, where on a perfectly
good PC something goes fatal during an XP install and simply starting
again with the same setup/configuration will work. What fun!

My experience with VPC has shown me that Windows 2000 is 'slightly'
better and/or faster than both 98 and XP, not that that will help you
though :-(

Good luck

Paul

Hi Reg,

Seems you may need to update VPC to 7.0.2 for using in OSX10.4.5
Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7.0.2 Update

This update is recommended for all users who are using Virtual PC for
Mac Version 7.0 or 7.0.1. This update improves overall stability of
Virtual PC and allows Virtual PC to run on Mac OS X Version 10.4.1 or
later.

Adding photo as full page watermark?

2006-02-25 Thread Bernard and Sue Oliver

Hi all

Trying to create a photo as a full A4 page watermark behind a poem.
Can anyone advise if this is possible given the following info?

iMac LCD
Panther
Epson Stylus Colour 680

Have found some info in Appleworks Draw docs 'Master Page' but this
does not appear to provide for adding a photo.

Is my only work around to print out photo in say, draft, then overprint
with the poem?

Thanks people and happy Friday!

Sue

A bit tricky ... it's Saturday here !!! ???

So have you looked at Microsoft WORD ...

In Word 2004 ... Insert - Watermark .

I was able to select a photo and type over the top of the faint picture
!

iPod car transmitter

2006-02-25 Thread Warren Jones

Not strictly Mac-related but

I'm looking for a car FM transmitter/recharger for my iPod mini and
from the research I've done on the net it seems the Transpod by DLO
is the best.

Anyone have any experience with these or in comparison to other brands?

Anyone sell these in Perth? I could order from Sydney for $138
delivered but would like to support a local supplier if it makes sense.
