Hi Kev,

You don't say if you are on Dialup or ADSL.
But, check these settings anyway.

System preferences->Network-> Show:Internal Modem -> PPP -> PPP  
options then uncheck 'Prompt every ?? minutes to maintain connection"


System preferences>network>Built-in-Ethernet>Configure>PPoE>
PPoE Options> and unchecked the "Prompt every ... minutes box

WINE for mac... run Win apps native in Intel macs...

well some of them anyway, not as versatile as Bootcamp or Parallels 
but if your required Windows application is compliant this could be a 
path to consider


WINE (WINE Is Not an Emulator) is under  development for Mac OSX.
WINE currently allows Linus users to run (some) WIndows applications 
native in their OS environment. beyond Application support it also 
allows some Windows devices to run even if there is no native driver 
for the users OS   (for example WIreless cards with no Linux drivers 
can be run in a WINE "Wrapper")
