Re: Itunes CD

2008-02-03 Thread Lloyd White
Thanks Kylie,

No, the preferences are set to burn Audio CD not MP3. And the music was not
in the MP3 format. I purchased it from the iTunes store.

The problem may have something to do with my Denon sound system.

Richard has offered this advice. " In relation to the Denon issue, I
presume that you have been able to burn compatible disks in the past (ie the
Denon does support CDR/CDRW disks). If so, you may have to limit burning to
640 MB disks, rather than 700 MB disks (which are now the most common),
ensure the disks have been finalised, limit burn speeds to x4, possibly use
only certain brands of disks (new high speed dyes may not interact properly
with the Denon laser) and make sure CD Text data is not being written (which
as a recent 'feature' may confuse the Denon hardware). The CD players in
two recent Holden Commodore's(2004/2006 models, with a German branded sound
system) I have been exposed to would not play CDR/CDRW media correctly
(unlike your case), so it is not an uncommon situation with essentially
modern hardware."

This has given me a lot to explore.

Hi Lloyd
I'm going to take a guess that you are burning the CD in iTunes as MP3 disk
Which can play in modern car stereos

to Burn a CD that will play in most CD players you'll need to change
the options in iTunes ---> Preferences ---> Advanced ---> Burnin

Disk Format: then change the Option to Audio CD

Remember you will not get as many songs on a disk as you Will with a MP3 disk

Itunes CD

2008-02-03 Thread Lloyd White
iTunes CD burning.

I have just burned a CD from iTunes and while it plays on my car CD player
it won't from my Denon sound system.

Is there any preference I can set to change this?

When I drag the files from iTunes to the desktop I can burn them with Toast
and they play on the sound system, but Toast will not burn any file that is
"authorised" by iTunes. (purchased songs from iTunes Store).

Is there any way around this?

Re: Skype

2008-02-03 Thread Michael Hawkins
A couple of days ago I posted a request for help in getting Skype to run on
my G3 PowerBook 400 OS 10.4.11. Thanks to Bob and James I found out that my
laptop didn't meet the specifications for the latest version of Skype, but
I've been able to get v 2.6.0.151 to run.

Regards,

Michael Hawkins.

HP Laptop Battery

2008-02-03 Thread Aurora
Hi,

Many months ago the name of a battery supplier in QLD was mentioned on this
list.

Can anyone please supply the name as I require a replacement battery for a
HP Laptop and the prices quoted here in Perth are 3x that of online stores.
