Re: Export contacts Entourage to Address Book

2008-07-25 Thread Neil Houghton
Hi Ronni,

So, what would be the point of the Apple supplied scripts - are they for
some slightly different purpose or just redundant?

Cheers

Neil

Re: Erasing a HD

2008-07-25 Thread David Ring

Thank you to all that offered their assistance on this topic.

Being relatively new to Mac, I felt that this would be a good
opportunity to go through the process of an OS re-install as there was
no data on the MBA HD that I needed. I take your point Daniel
regarding your comment 'In the Mac world a reinstall should be the be
all and end all of the last
ditch attempt!' but I wanted to go through the motions anyway. I
didn't purchase a superdrive (carting around an external unit seemed
to defeat the purpose of purchasing an ultra portable/light weight
wireless laptop) so the only option was to use the 'remote disk' app
which worked well although as you suggested Rob, it was a little slow!

Got there in the end and learned a little more on the way, thanks to
the WAMUG members.

Hi Mark and all,.

Just to add to this,..

If there was a partition setup via Bootcamp then you can remove the
partition very easily.
All you have to do is Run the Bootcamp Setup Assistant again and say
"Create

or Remove a Windows Partition".
It will then give you the option to restore you hard drive back to one
single partition.
Very easy! :o)

only real exception to this would be if you set up XP originally as a
Bootcamp install and had to re partition your internal hard disk...
in that case I guess, not knowing if there are any repartitioning
tools for mac that will remove a partition on a live disk, then a
format and reinstall would probably be needed.

Re: Export contacts Entourage to Address Book

2008-07-25 Thread Ronda Brown

Hi Michael & Neil,

The easiest way is to open Entourage and export all the entries as
vCards into a folder.
Then open Address Book and simply drag all the vCards into Address
Book or use the Import vCards option under Address Book's File menu.

You can also In the Preferences menu for Entourage, you can select the
option to synchronize your calendar and contacts with iCal and Address
Book.

Entourage > Preferences > Sync Services

Ronni

Hi Michael,

I don't know how relevant it is but I recently noticed that in the
"AppleScript" folder (in Applications) there is an alias to "Example
Scripts".

In this folder there are folders for both "Address Book Scripts" and "Mail
Scripts" and in each of these folders is a folder called "Address Importers"
which contains a script called "Entourage.scpt"

I would imagine that these would import your Entourage contacts. (I haven't

I've answered my own question.

Exported contacts to a file saved on the desktop called Contacts Export.txt
and then imported that file into Address Book.
