Hi Steven,

I don't know if you are aware of it, but MobileMe will cease to operate on 30
June, 2012. If you want to continue synchronizing your Mac and iPhone calendar
after that date, you will need to find an alternative.

Cheers,

Re: iCal entries keep disappearing

2011-11-25 Thread Steven Knowles
Yes to all of those, Ronni.

I did a little more exploring of iCal / Lion / MobielMe sync issues and it
seems there's a plague of problems. Seems to me a move to iCloud is going to be
the only long term solution. Which will mean an iPhone hardware upgrade. Might
not be such a bad thing to be forced to do ... my iPhone 3G has slowed to a
crawl these days. Hopefully the iPhone 5 will be out before MobileMe disappears.

An option is that I access Calendar via www.me.com/calendar - at initial glance
that seems to be more reliable.

Cheers, Steven

Re: Videobox and Lion

2011-11-25 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi John,

If the Video is working can be downloaded in Videobox in one Lion
installation it has nothing to do with Tasty Apps.
The problem is on your Mac, something missing or a setting on your Mac!

What is the video format? Is it Flash, do you have Flash Player, Flip4Mac
installed?

Open a new user account on your computer and see if it will also not load in
that user.
If it does load just fine then its an issue with the one of the system files in
your user related to safari or flash that is causing the problem.

You can start by pulling the com.apple.safari.plist from
MacintoshHD/Users/your username/Library/Preferences.
In Lion you get to your user library by holding Option when clicking on the Go
menu in the Menu Bar when Finder is the active application (next to the Apple).

You can also look at the Internet Plug Ins folder in the User library, as well
as clearing the cache files out of the Caches folder if the issue only happens
in your user.

If it also does not load in a new user then the issue is system wide with the
application itself and might need a proper uninstall re-install.
Also test sites where flash is used like CNN.com videos
http://edition.cnn.com/video/# to verify its the plugin.

Cheers,
Ronni

 extension.
The extension will only work with Safari.
 This has been done.

I have contacted the site Tech Crew who incidentally are Mac users. Their
set up is the same as mine but have no problem, works fine for them. They
 are still investigating.
I don't know if a re-install of Lion on the MacMini would help but that
seems to be where the problem lies.

If you want to send the link to the video we can have a look and see if we
 can see a problem.

 Hi List,
Another one of my little gripes. I would like to say the problem lies
in Lion but after some tests, decided maybe not.

My problem. I follow two or three sites of a particular interest to me
(nothing untoward) which have daily Flash or Utube video clips attached.
For over a year now, I have been downloading and saving any clips of
interest using Videobox quite successfully, apart from the occasional
hiccup which is normal with my computing. For the last week or so
however, the video capture on only one of the sites has failed to work
with Lion on my Macintosh HD. I have Snow Leopard on one external drive
and a clone of Lion on another. Videobox works fine when booting from
either of these two external drives but not from the internal drive. I
have gone through the usual permission repair, Safari and Videobox
updates and anything else I could think of. There is obviously some
small hidden file in my Macintosh HD that is blocking this particular
 site.

 Any ideas?

Belkin AV360

2011-11-25 Thread Callum Prior
Hi all,

I've been trying to find a local supplier for a Belkin AV360 Mini Displayport
Converter with no luck. Hoping someone out there might have some ideas. I can
get in online, but I was really hoping to use it to get in some quality Skyrim
time this weekend.

Cheers!

Callum

Launchpad and System Preferences

2011-11-25 Thread Severin Crisp
With Snow Leopard I had ALL the applications that I ever used as icons in the
dock, a long line up but very easy and convenient. All my regulars were set as
startup items and hidden. With Lion I am trying to go with the
flow/modernise/get with it/update or whatever and use Launchpad. To this end
only running applications whether hidden or not show on the dock. System
Preferences is an anomaly. Though set as a startup item it starts and then
vanishes whether set as hidden or not.
Has anyone any comment on this?
I am not convinced that Launchpad has any advantages over my earlier setup

Re: Launchpad and System Preferences

2011-11-25 Thread Bill Cole
Hi Severin,
not the perfect solution, but you can Command/ click and
arrange the icons in Launchpad how you want them arranged, ie the ones you use
a lot can be on the first page of Launchpad, or, alternatively just drag drop
them into the Dock
Bill ( just learning about Lion !! )
