Hi Rosemary,

So where are we at now… is the Apple USB SuperDrive still not working on your 
MacBook Pro?
Your MacBook Pro is recognising the USB SuperDrive connected to the USB Port.
So if it is still ’spitting’ Discs out, something on your system is set 
incorrectly or causing the problem.
 
After you installed the macOS update Combo 10.12.6 did you then run Software 
Update and install all updates shown? 
There was an update for iTunes to version 12.6.2 (.20)

You mentioned originally that you “dragged to desktop CD Info.cidb”.
Have you tried moving that file back where it came from as a corrupted CD 
Info.cidb will prevent only AudioCDs to be recognised.
~/Library/Preferences?CD Info.cidb

I did what you suggested.. the option key did work.

First aid said there were no problems!
