Hi Stephen
No worries enjoy the new printer!
I’m sure others on this site can give more details on VueScan than I.
Kind regard

2017-10-13 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi Peter.

I have not come across VueScan.
If they write their own drivers perhaps it would be OK.

But I now have a new Epson printer so quite happy.
The Epson scanning software is more user friendly than my older Cannon anyway.
It also uses less space on my desk and has a 100 sheet paper cartridge (that I
never had).

Hi Stephen
Excuse me if this is ridiculous as I’m not a guru at all, but shouldn’t you
still be able to scan via VueScan, I never use the printers software always
choosing VueScan instead for my scanning on whatever printer?
Kind regards

Canon MX340 Printer/Scanner/Copier free to good home

2017-10-13 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi folks.

The above Printer is in perfect condition.
But will no longer scan for Macs using High Sierra.
Canon confirmed that they no longer update drivers for this model.
So if you are not updating to High Sierra it is no problem.

It is complete with original Software Disks.
I also have an unused Colour Cartridge to go with it.

Stephen Chape

Re: Apple TV and Bluetooth Speakers

2017-10-13 Thread Diana & Graham Stevens
I remember when you had all the trouble with the optical cable. I am going to
investigate connecting wireless headphones to the optical-digital audio out
which should not cancel the audio via the speakers. I have Panasonic also so I
shall visit JB HiFi and take advice. Thanks again for your help.

Best wishes from Diana

Re: Apple TV and Bluetooth Speakers

2017-10-13 Thread Severin Crisp
My system is effective if rather complex with two tv recorders and the hifi
music as well. They are all in a convenient cupboard while the TV is quite
separate on a table fairly close to us. The cabling is interesting and of
course I have six handpieces, all of which are used!. The sound from the
recorders (and Apple TV) go through a magic box which is needed - the sound
from our Panasonic recorders will not play via the Bose optical fibre channel,
a Panasonic quirk fixed by the magic box. The AV sound is fine though
probably of lower quality and I was seeking the best. The no go of the
optical fibre channel was hard nut to crack - flashing light was coming out the
end of the pipe but the Bose would not accept it though perfectly happy on AV
sound pair.
In a couple of weeks I have the joys of the NBN, though my current link is fine
and Netflix is faultless.
Best wishes
Severin

Thanks for this info Severin.

It sounds what we need, we are both a bit deaf. I shall investigate further
though explaining our 'just grew like Topsy / Heath Robinson' entertainment
system may be a challenge!

Re: Apple TV and Bluetooth Speakers

2017-10-13 Thread Severin Crisp
We have a similar problem; we are both suffering from a degree of hearing loss,
they tell us it is something to do with advancing years!
Accordingly purchase a Bose Solo system, not cheap, but it made a remarkable
difference. We now both get the dialog from mumbling Americans on TV shows and
films and even Geordies are more or less intelligible!
It was a real boon for us, though our sons when they visit complain of the the
high sound level!
Though this is not a direct solution to your stated split system need it worked
for us!
